Rosenberg, Texas is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. Rosenberg was founded in 1881 by German immigrants. The community first named "Rosenberg" after its founder's brother-in-law, Rosenwald (1837-1920), an American entrepreneur and landowner who had come to the U.S. from Germany in 1868 and started a cattle ranch near Alpine in Hudspeth County. After years of debate about where to locate the community, Rosenberg Council voted on December 12, 1899 to name it after John A. Rosenberg (1853-1924), one of their own members on the council that year and a former member of the Texas House of Representatives from Fort Worth.
Rosenberg was founded in 1876 by Jewish men of modest means. They became prosperous and soon developed a large agricultural empire. Rosenberg's fortunes waxed and waned, but the town never lost its sense of community or charm.
