The Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC) is the steward of the United States Navy's historical records. NHHC administers the naval history program which includes the storage, presentation, and preservation of naval artifacts. The command also oversees Museum programs that house navy equipment and archives from throughout American history. In 1951, Rockwall was selected as one of two sites in Texas to undergo a $667,000 renovation project for the US Naval Academy's new Command Chapel. The Chapel was designed by architect George Bancroft Smith with input from then-Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Chester Nimitz. At that time, Rockwall had no residents other than midshipmen who attended the Academy. As part of the renovations, townspeople were allowed to join in on special events held at various locations within downtown Rockwall while supplies lasted. In 1957, Rockwall annexed Prairie View A&M University which increased its population to over 1,500 students and faculty members living in campus buildings as well as on surrounding rural land (). Rockwall is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas located on the border of Dripping Springs and Webb City. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Antonio–Bexar County metropolitan area. The name "Rockwall" comes from a creek that ran through the town center, making it one of its earliest residents were farmers who discovered coal ore near present-day Rockwall in 1881. Coal mining brought other industry to Rockwall during the 1920s, but it declined by the end of World War II due to generous federal investments in post-war reconstruction. In 1965, large portions of Rockwall were annexed by Webb City and its sister city, San Antonio; this annexation created an unincorporated community known as Rocksville within Webb City boundaries which continued to operate as an independent municipality until it merged with Rockwall on January 1, 2000. In recent years,rock wall has become a hotbed for technology startups and businesses such as facebook , googleplex and twitter . A new business park called rock walls mall was built just outside of town in 2013 and offers major shopping options such as restaurants and movie theaters nearby

The ship was decorated with navy Deployed Gift Certificates (DGC) which are awarded to U.S. military members who give special gifts or services to their country during wartime. Each DGC contains an engraved inscription from a sailor or Marine Corps serviceman/woman who gave something valuable away while deployed at sea. The first DGC was given on October 11, 2009, when Rear Admiral Rickover presented Rear Admiral John Richardson with a gift certificate for $1,000 worth of coffee beans from Hagatna Coffee Roasters in Guam. The second DGC was given on February 4, 2013, when Commander George Waddell presented Commandant Gary Roughead with a gift certificate for $5K worth of clothes from JB Hi-Fiauthorized retailer in Bahrain also known as First Choice Mall located outside Jeddah, Saudi Arabia . This event marked the first time that operational forces had conducted joint shopping trips within maritime boundaries since World War II . In addition to deploying the USS Carl Vinson for Operation Inherent Resolve, other vessels that took part in this year's cruise were USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 75), USS Fitzgerald (SSN 707), and USS William P Taylor (CG 71). These warships participated in various ceremonies and provided assistance to multiple nations across many different theaters including Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. Sailors aboard these ships received numerous awards including several deployments with Unit Commendation Medals (UCM), National Defense Service Medals (NDSM), Overseas Service Medals(OSM), Sea Service Ribbon(SSR) and more!

Rockwall, Texas is a city in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 8,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The name "Rockwall" is derived from a bluff on the San Antonio River where early settlers built their homes. The first post office in Rockwall was established on October 24, 1876. The present Rockwall Mercantile and Exchange building was built in 1907 and replaced an earlier building which had been destroyed by a fire in 1906. The rock wall that now stands near downtown Rockwall was erected by local farmers to protect their land from Indians who were known to frequent the area during the 1870s. One of the earliest businesses in town was a grocery store operated by Mrs. Sallie Hargrave until 1865 when she moved to Beaumont, Texas and opened her own store there. Mrs. Hargrave's son-in-law Harry Waddell ran the store for her until 1886 when he bought it from her and continued to operate it until his death in 1922. In 1902 Giannina Starr started selling eggs at her house on Main Street which became one of the most popular attractions for visitors to town because of its proximity to stagecoaches going between Austin and San Antonio (then called Mexican Territory). By 1915 there were five grocery stores operating within town limits and two meat markets as well as several druggists and shoe stores all providing services necessary for day-to-day life such as groceries, laundry services, banking services and doctor's visits etc.. The first post office in Medina County was established at what is now Rocksville on October 24th 1876 by JF Dillard with mail service starting on November 1st that year.. This initial operation served only residents of Medina County not anyone living beyond Rocky Bluff west of Medina Creek! Rockwall, Texas is located in west-central Texas and was founded by the Kickapoo Sioux in 1836. The town was named for General James Fenton, who died at the Battle of San Jacinto in 1847. The first store opened in Rockwall on October 11, 1887. On December 22, 1912, the City of Rockwall was incorporated as a city within the County of Hudspeth. In 1932, the City of Rockwall annexed portions of Angelo and Springhill counties to form a new city boundaries.
