In 1957, a group of Marines from the 1st Marine Division deployed to Rockwall, Texas as part of the United Statesinvasion of Cuba. The unit was assigned to the 3rd Marine Regiment and arrived on August 29th. The Marines were tasked with providing security for U.S. Ambassador John F. Kennedy's residence during his visit to Cuba that week. On September 5th, the regiment relieved another unit in Rockwall and began their deployment back home in Texas when they departed Cuba on October 12th.

The Rockwall post office opened in 1868, and closed in 1970. The current post office was established in 1980. Rockwall is located at (30.866667, -97.424444). According to the 2010 census, it has a total area of , of which is land and (0.5%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,209 people residing in the town: 706 households out of which 39% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53% were married couples living together, 8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24% were non-families. 21% of all households were made up of individuals and 5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2 per family; there were 9 families out of which 36% had three or more children, and 16 families out of which only two parents lived together

Rockwall is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,844 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what would become Rockwall was James Ewing in 1836. He and his family built a cabin on the edge of a mesa overlooking the Trinity River. They were followed by several other families over the next few years. In 1840, John Cline bought land from Ewing and started to build a house on what is now Waco Road NE. Cline's son-in-law, James Hogg, also purchased land nearby and laid out a village named "Hogtown" on high ground near today's Old Rocky Ford Rd., about one mile east of present day Rockwall High School (now White Settlement). The name "Rockwall" probably came about because of nearby hills that were difficult to climb or drive around. In 1845, Isaac Butt founded Butt's Post Office at what is now Main Street NW and Elm Street NW in what would become Rockwall Village. Butt served as postmaster until 1851 when he sold his interest to Jno Gassaway (1824-1902). Gassaway renamed the post office "Rockwall" after his home state of Texas' capital city of Austin – which he had visited while living in Arkansas between 1849 and 1850. By 1865, there were five stores, three churches (oneMethodist), two schoolhouses (one for girls and one for boys), four residences (twoupside down), four harness shops/frameyards/cotton gin operation(s), plus twenty five head of cattle and seventy three hogs all under one roof! In 1870, Atherton Wigglesworth platted an addition to what would become present day Rocky Wall Cemetery on land adjoining present day FM 527 just south of Today's Oldrock Ford Rd.. Wigglesworth had been born in 1792 near Fredericksburg TX during early 1800s wagon trade along Santa Anna River between Texan traders & Mexican forces fighting Mexico War
