Rockwall is a town in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,793 at the 2010 census. It is part of the El Paso–Nuevo Laredo Metropolitan Statistical Area. Rockwall was founded in 1846 by Benton Whitmore and others as a trading post on the Hudspeth River. In 1849, Rockwall became a county seat and remained so until 1907 when it became unincorporated. The first school in Rockwall opened in 1857 and instruction continued until 1915. A new school was built in 1925 and designated as Rockwall High School; it served students from kindergarten through twelfth grade until its closure in 2003. In 2006, the old high school building was rehabilitated into apartments for seniors with disabilities. In 1899-1900, Rockwall erected a frame jail which held five prisoners: William Fenton (founder of Fort Worth), John Troup (a physician), Harry Burnett (storekeeper at San Antonio), Hiram Gates (founder of Gates Rubber Company) and Wm Crain (of Creek cedar lumber company). It functioned as court house until 1931 when the county seat moved to El Paso. According to the 2010 U.S Census, 1,793 people live in Rockwall proper while 2,811 people live within its limits including those within incorporated municipality of Hidalgo Heights which has an official population of 2,953 according to2010 census data but includes only 915 residents who identify themselves as being from that municipality’s jurisdiction

Rockwall is a city in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 11,895 at the 2010 census. Rockwall is the largest city in Midland County and the second-largest city on the Indian River Platform after Fort Worth. The name "Rockwall" was given to it by pioneers who named it for General James Rock of the Mexican army who fought in 1848 against Ulysses S. Grant's forces during the American Civil War. The first people to live here were Native Americans who hunted and gathered game in what is now downtown Rockwall. They built their homes out of logs or branches that they collected from trees near their campsites. By 1830, some settlers had moved into what is now eastern Midland County and began farmsteading around what is today downtown Rockwall. In 1836, Major Michael Juhnke laid out a town site comprising present-day downtown Rockwall and east side of Cedar Creek which included parts of present-day Cedar Park and West University Place (now known as Willowbrook). He called his town "Juhnke's Mills." A post office was established at this site on October 15, 1836; however, no mail arrived until November 1st due to bad roads along the creek banks. In 1840some small farmers started growing crops on land located north of where Cedar Park now stands while others erected log cabins near what are now Pecos Street and Lamar Avenue NW in order to get good water access from Cedar Creek Valley upstream through these modern day neighborhoods including part of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport complex today known as Growth Properties across I-635 from City Hall tower all with excellent views of Dallas skyline/Fort Worth airport inside airport property boundaries also major oil refineries located nearby making Dallas one big refinery area back then if you looked out your window you could see those refineries
Rockwall is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, located on the border of Hudspeth and Travis counties. The population was 10,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The town started as a post office in 1872, named for General James Fenton Rockwall, who had served in Mexico City during the Mexican-American War. In 1876, the first school opened in what is now Rockwall and it was originally called "Humble." A local mine closed around 1907 and did not reopen until after World War II when general Motors began manufacturing there; this led to an influx of workers which helped Rockwall become one of GM's main plants outside Detroit. In 1957, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones bought property that included sections of what are now Rockwall and Humble from the original owners of Hudspeth County land along FM 620 east of Interstate 30. This created proximity to new stadiums for both teams but also put some stress on public transportation since most people then lived within walking distance of either stadium or their jobs at GM factories nearby (the primary economic base for both teams). The Jones family continued to own this piece of property through various incarnations until 2003 when they sold it back to Hudspeth County for development into housing units only; today much less land remains within Humble limits than before . In 2001, local businessmen Arturo Perez Sr., Jr., and Jorge Colon organized a group known as " Texans Together ", Incorporated to help promote entrepreneurship among Hispanics in Austin – predominantly Latinos living northward – by developing marketing plans based on demographics such as activity levels associated with specific neighborhoods (residential areas near schools) which could be then marketed statewide using technology like mapping tools available at that time . This strategy failed because Austin's Hispanic population had already grown too large relative to those targeted byTexans Together ; instead Perez founded his own company called "Mission Properties" which developed commercial properties adjacent to UTSA campuses while still targeting Latinos living northward . Today Mission Properties owns over 350 acres within Humble limits including many large single-family homes built between 2001 and 2007 utilizing limited government funds provided through various stimulus programs entailed with such strategies: bond issues followed by private fundraising efforts succeeded in getting these properties off the tax rolls entirely , culminating in Mission Properties becoming one of Austin's largest Developers
