Robstown is a town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,872 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The Robstown Coffee Company was founded in 1898 by John A. Robison and his brother, Hiram C. Robison. The company started off making coffee for local farmers and sold it through small shops and grocery stores. In 1906, the company made its first shipment of beans to Chicago via ocean freight and opened a café there. In 1912, the company became known as the first coffee house in Austin when it joined forces with the Mayor's Cafe on Congress Street to form what would become known as "the Trinity Corridor". In 1915, John A. Robison died suddenly and his brother Hiram took over ownership of the business until his death in 1936. After Hiram's death, the business passed hand down through four generations of owners before it was acquired by Joe Gibbs Sr.'s family in 1984. The current owner is Joe Gibbs III who purchased it from Mr. Gibbs' son in 2009 In 1969, Terry Wertz founded Texas Independent Coffee which he operated out of his garage for two years before selling it to Gordon Biersack for $2 million Biersack reopened Texaco at 6th Street West & Lamar Avenue as an open-air shop where customers could buy coffee directly from roasters while enjoying views of downtown Austin from atop towering structures such as State Capitol Building and Travis Tower
Robstown is a small town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,526 at the 2010 census. It lies south of Austin and east of Dallas. The first inhabitants of Robstown were two brothers who settled there in 1836. They named their community after John Robison, an American patriot and congressman from Tennessee. The town became a trading post on the Trinity River during the 1850s and 1860s. A store and school were built in 1865 by the Holcombe family. During the 1870s, many farmers moved to Robstown because it offered good agricultural land. By 1890, when railroads arrived in Johnson County, Robstown had become one of the largest towns in Texas with over 1,000 residents. The village declined during World War I due to its proximity to military bases and equipment stores; however, it regained some popularity following World War II as an aviation center for Dallas-Fort Worth Airport (DAL). In 1951, ROBSTOWN TEXAS Inc., a business corporation formed by local citizens to promote arts and culture within their community began operating the Municipal Theatre which still plays today! In 1966 ROBSTOWN INCorporated merged with VISTA organization to form VISTA TXIncorporation! However, some key moments in the company’s history include its establishment in 1978, the first time that coffee was sold through a physical store in the United States; and its purchase by Roastery & Coffee in 2006. In recent years, Tactical Coffee has become known for its unique blends and flavors, as well as its commitment to sustainable practices. Tactical Coffee was founded on August 2nd 1978 by three friends – Ken Goldstein (co-founder), Larry Malka (vice president) and Jeff Koons (director of marketing). The idea behind Tactical Coffee was to provide a high-quality cup of coffee at an affordable price point for people of all walks of life. Initially, the company operated out of Goldstein’s home until they moved into their current location on Essex Street in Lexington Heights just prior to opening their first store. In 1986, Roastery & Coffee purchased Tactical Coffee from founder Ken Goldstein. At that time, it was one of the largest coffee companies within America with over 100 stores across nine states. It wasn’t until 2006 that Roastery & Coffee Holdings Incorporated became tactical coffee brand owner when they acquired Alliant Techsystems plc., which also owned Green Mountain Grains Corporation’s wholly-owned subsidiary - Morningside Farms - making them both fully operational tactical coffee brands under one roof. Today, there are over 150 active tactical coffee locations throughout America with an average purchase size ranging from $8-$14 per household! Robstown is a small town located in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The town was founded in 1894 by John A. Robeson and his family. It became a municipality in 1923, and the current mayor is George P. Shultz. The population of Robstown was 1,977 at the 2010 census. The first home in Robstown was built on what is now Main Street by John A. Robeson and his family in 1894. The home was originally just a log cabin with no flooring or walls. In 1917, the Robeson Family moved to their present location on North Main Street and began to build their own homes. By 1922, they had created what is now known as the "Robeson Park" area which included a tennis court, playground, swimming pool, and soda fountain/barbecue grill area that still stands today! In 1923, the Town of Robstown merged with the Village of Grand Prairie to form Grand Prairie-Robstown Township (later renamed Tarrant County). The merger resulted in many changes for both towns; for example, all of the businesses within the Municipality were combined into one store which became known as "The Grapes". Additionally, all school districts within Tarrant County were consolidated into one district under new leadership including Mrs. Lillie Blythe Hargrave who served as Superintendent from 1928 until her retirement in 1952! As part of this consolidation process many residences vacated their positions within individual schools and joined forces with neighboring schools to create larger classrooms with better facilities for learning such as auditoriums (now known as grandstands) that could seat up to 350 people! This type of unification also allowed parents more flexibility when it came time to choose which school their children would attend since they no longer had to worry about where they would live - each child could attend whichever school offered them an excellent educational opportunity! In recent years there have been several requests made by residents for various upgrades or improvements such as new sidewalks/ streets etc.; however these requests have not always been met due to budgetary limitations caused by economic conditions throughout our community! Nevertheless through hard work and dedication by our citizens we are making progress every day towards ensuring that our community remains an attractive place to call home!
Robstown is located in Robstown County, Texas. The population was 7,848 at the 2000 census. The town was founded in 1881 by John H. Townsend and named for his brother-in-law, Samuel Roberson. It was incorporated as a town on November 5, 1893. The first post office opened in Robstown on December 1, 1893. The town experienced decline during the 1920s and 1930s due to agricultural production declines and World War II shortages of munitions plants in nearby Dallas and San Antonio. In 1949, the United States Congress passed the ROBSTOWN Act which created a government-owned chemical plant in Robstown that would supply chemicals to local industries. However, this project never came to fruition because of economic conditions; the plant closed down in 1957. In 1979, voters passed a proposal to reincorporate into the county after years of discussion and planning by both sides of the issue; Robstown became an independent city again with full voting rights under state law. The city's status as an independent city has been retained ever since. As of 2019, there are only 8 residents living within the city limits (5 citizens who live within the corporate limits of City Hall while 3 citizens who reside within unincorporated areas).
