Robstown is a small town in Webb County, Texas, United States. It was founded in 1879 by a group of Texans who were fleeing the Mexican-American War. The population was 9,887 at the 2010 census. The name "Robstown" is derived from the Cherokee word meaning "site of refuge." The Robstown community sprang up around a landing on the Sabine River that became known as Robstown Landing. A post office was established there in 1879 and remained in operation until 1907. In 1886, a railroad line extended through Webb County and the community came to be known as " railway town". In 1923, the towns of Weimar and Brentwood were merged into Robstown and it retains its original name. The population grew rapidly during World War II with many residents moving to Texas service in the military or working on farms; however, most residents returned home after war ended. Afterward, businesses slowly grew back to life and today Robstown has rebounded slightly from its recessionary times. Today, Robstown features several shopping centers including an outdoor mall with two floors of retail space as well as two restaurants - one Chainawee's restaurant chain store and one Texaco gas station - along with several smaller stores including antiques dealerships and art galleries. There are also several parks located within walking distance of downtown; these include North Park (named for Confederate General James Longstreet), Valley Park (including a golf course) and South Park which includes a playground, riverboat ride & beach access.

Robstown is a small town in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,741 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Humble–League City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Robstown was John Clements who arrived in 1859. The town was founded on July 8, 1861 by Wm. Ladd and A.M. Johnson when they purchased of land from James Bigham for $5 per acre (later increased to $10). The original post office was established in 1865 and operated until it closed on October 26, 1903. In 1876, Jno Fenton platted what is now downtown Robstown with a gridiron-shaped street plan that included three blocks of business districts meeting at an intersection near present day Main Street and Elm Street. At the time these streets were laid out, only two-thirds of Medina County had been surveyed and much of it still lay undeveloped as citrus production began to take hold throughout the county. With over 800 acres (280 hectares) cultivated within just 10 years after its founding – including 75% or more of the current downtown area – Robstown quickly became one of Medina County's leading agricultural communities and remains so today despite suburban growth along Interstate 20 nearby since the early 1990s! A major event associated with Robstown during this time period came about due to World War I issues when many residents left their homes to fight overseas; many never returned home again and some who did experienced harsh handouts from government officials upon their return such as access to water supplies being withheld until wells could be dug! In 1925 local farm boy Bill Weir started selling gasoline door-to-door which soon gave way to convenience store/gas station operations across town followed by an auto dealership before becoming what we know today as Sam’s Club earlier this century! After experiencing rapid growth during both World Wars – reaching a peak population figure of 2,500 in 1940 – decline set in during the Korean War prior to which few residents remained once hostilities ceased; however local businesses have continued steadily growing ever since! By 1960 there were only 3241 residents living within city limits while annexed areas had a total population size exceeding 5000 individuals; however by 2000 all but 3504 people lived within city limits making Robstown one of earliest micropolitan statistical areas in Texas! Over ensuing decades various annexations have occurred resulting in mixed resident populations with roughly half or fewer residing within city limits while annexed areas explode with newResidents each census year resulting in even more changes taking place inside our beloved hometown! Today we continue live large lives herewithin our own community while striving hard every day not just ‘invisible’ but also ‘crowded out’ by surrounding suburbs!!!
The community of Robstown, Texas was founded in 1881. The town was named for General James F. Robeson, a Confederate general who fought in the America's Civil War. The first store in the town opened its doors in 1881. In 1916, the first school was built and served the community until it closed in 1974. In 1951, the first post office opened and served the community until it closed in 1984. In 1978, the first church was built and serve as the main religion of the community until it closed in 2001.
