Richardson, Texas is a city located in Dallas County, Texas. It was founded in 1876 and named for Colonel James Richardson. The current population of Richardson is over 152,000 people. Richardson is the largest city in Dallas County by population. Richardsons economy is based on education and technology, with a diverse range of businesses and industries including information technology, healthcare services, petroleum refining, manufacturing and construction. The spirit of openness that these events exemplified helped continue to grow Richardson throughout much of the 1970s until dramatic changes occurred within our community after Hurricane Harvey hit in August 2017: central Business District (CBD) redevelopment transformed downtown from a sleepy enclave into one of major metropolises for retail activity across several blocks southward along I-35S Boulevard stretching eastward from Sanger Road…. Richardson first became a town in 1871 and was named for General John Richardson, an American Revolutionary War general who fought for independence from Great Britain. The current settlement began as a trading post on Buffalo Bayou on what is now east side of I-10 about 12 miles (19 km) north of downtownDallas, near present day Fair Park. On October 8, 1872, James Waggoner Post #2 started to trade goods with Indians at this location; it soon became known as Richardson Station because General John A. Richardson had given land to this post as a gift. In 1903, after years of growth due to transportation improvements by entrepreneur Harry Laughlin and others, Richardson incorporation was granted by the Texas Legislature which at that time allowed municipalities more autonomy within their borders than had been granted previously; Richardsons incorporated on November 3, 1903 under name Heathrow Heights Councilman Joplin Kilgore proposed since he could not find someone else to propose it when Lawrance Atkinson submitted his resolution proposing incorporation that same night In 1951 Interstate 10 divided what is now eastside Richtersons into two areas: West Richterson (now Baylor University campus) and East Richterson (now NorthPark). On December 15th 1961 Interstate 10 was extended all the way to central Dallas through its merger with Longwood Avenue from Arlington County into Dallas County The City of Richardson annexed portions of Garland City on January 1st 1920 including present day Garland Cemetery although development there did not begin until 1922 when Mr. Fenton donated land for municipal park purposes adjacent to his home called Forest Lawn Cemetery which began serving residents in 1922 Fayette Hill Elementary School opened in 1911 along creek bed between Lamar Boulevard/UptownDallas/Old Hickory Road intersection and Elm Street just south southeast corner of property later renamed "Rhodes Drive" classroom addition followed in 1912
