The Port Neches Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1922. The club has been dues-paying members since that time. It is interesting to note that the first gun purchased by the club was a Winchester Model 1892 rifle. The club currently has over 120 rifles, shotguns, pistols and revolvers in its inventory. In 2006, the club donated a Remington 870 shotgun to local law enforcement as part of American Sniper’s 20th anniversary celebration. In 2013, the Port Neches Rifle and Pistol Club donated a Glock 19 handgun to local law enforcement as part of American Sniper’s 25th anniversary celebration. In 2016, the club donated an AR-15 rifle to local law enforcement as part ofAmerican Sniper’s 30th anniversary celebration. In 2017, the Port Neches Rifle and Pistol Club donated an M4A1 carbine to local law enforcement as part of American Sniper’s 40th anniversary celebrations. The M4A1 carbine is one of only two such weapons ever gifted to Local Law Enforcement by our members at this event (the other being a SIG Sauer P226).

Port Neches is a small town in Brazoria County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,563 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area. The Port Neches community began as a fishing village on the Brazos River. A post office called "Neches" was established in 1872, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1945. It was then renamed "Port Neches". The first school in Port Neches opened in 1876. In 1886, a cotton gin and mill were built here; they continue to operate today. In 1924, Waco Pipeline Company built the first pipeline through Port Neches when it connected Galveston with Houston via the Brazos River. The company also constructed a refinery here that continues to operate today. In 1954, Texaco purchased Waco Pipeline Company from its parent company American Petroleum Corporation and turned it into an oil refiner and marketing center known as Texaco Park (now part of NRG Energy). In 1967, Gulf Resource Development Corporation acquired Texaco Park and began developing land along the river for an ethanol refinery and other industrial uses. In 1985, Gulf Resources sold its interest inTexaco Park to Chevron for $2 billion dollars making it one of the largest ever corporate acquisitions by a single company at that time. That same year saw the opening of America's first container port on Buffalo Bayou - PortNeches Marina - which remains one of central business districts within town limits today despite being abandoned by Chevron over 25 years ago due to environmental concerns about barging operations on Buffalo Bayou without proper permits from state officials
