In 1837 AD, Martin van Beethoven created his famous Symphony No 1 which included the song “Espresso” which started off as part of a performance piece he wrote for Emperor Ludwig II of Austria along with other symphonies including Dvorák’s Polonaise and Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. This event marked the beginning of espresso as we know it today as it was introduced to Vienna by Count Johann Strauss von Coburg who served it at his palace during lunchtime until 1861 AD when Austrian Empress Elisabeth II banned its use because she believed that caffeine interfered with her official duties as First Lady of Austria). Port Lavaca (/ˈpɔrt lævək/; Spanish: La Veta) is a city in Texas, United States. The population was 937 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Comal County and one of the six cities in Travis County. The city was founded by Mexicans who came overland from Mexico in 1836. At first it was called "Mendoza," but because of its close proximity to Austin, it became known as Austin's "second outpost." In 1839, Captain James Fagan gave the town its name, after he landed there with his squadron of ships on July 25. After Mexico's victory over Texas at San Jacinto la Hacienda on November 6, 1836, many Mexican immigrants decided to come overland instead of waiting for a chance to be admitted as U.S citizens through conventional channels like applying to local missions or going through congressional hearings. This group included brothers Miguel de Portago and Antonio Cabrillo y Costilla and their uncle Fernando de los Ríos y Costilla. They set out from Vera Cruz on horseback across Texas into what is now Comal County on October 26, 1836. On December 2 they arrived at what is now Port Lavaca after spending two weeks camping along the Brazos River near present-day Westville before continuing upriver another week to reach their destination on December 14th In 1840 Captain Fagan organized a company of volunteers from La Villa (now part of Heights), which became known as Company A when it left for Missouri that year under Lt Colonel John Craines Captain Fagan also donated land for a courthouse and school district that still stands today northwest of downtown Port Lavaca In 1840 Antonio Cabrillo y Costilla married Joséfa Ortiz and brought her here with him when he came overland from Mexico City This group had already established Flores Rancho (later ranches named Mission Trails) about 8 miles south east of modern day downtown Port Lavaca when they started down the Rio Grande Valley in search of new land zigzagging between mountain ranges until they found a spot where they could build their rancho without running into obstacles such as water shortages or Indians They began leasing this area back and forth with other ranchers until finally purchasing it outright from Joséfa Ortiz circa 1850s annexation followed by incorporation occurred in 1865 following an election campaign promise by then-Governor George Wickersham
