Plainview, Texas is a small town located in the heart of the American Plains. The town was founded in 1871 by a group of farmers who decided to move from Kansas City. The original population of the town was just seventy-six people. However, over time, the population has grown and today, Plainview has a population of around two thousand people. The history of Plainview goes back to 1871 when a group of farmers decided to move from Kansas City and settle in what is now known as Plainview. At that time, the land in which plainview stands was part of Tarrant County. Over time, the land changed hands many times and finally came under control of Brushy Creek Ranching Company in 1907. After years of ownership and development by Brushy Creek Ranching Company, it became clear that there were too few businesses or homes available in PlainVIEW for the company’s employees to live on site comfortably. In order to provide an escape for its employees, Brushy Creek Ranching Company sold some of its land to John Crouch for $10 per acre. This purchase made it possible for Crouch to build what would become known as “The Gables” complex on what is now Elm Street in PlainVIEW. Today, The Gables complex remains one of the most iconic buildings in PlainVIEW – it provides housing for nearly two thousand people and offers plenty of amenities such as a grocery store, library/theatre district, health club and more. It also contains several businesses including Laundromat (which opened its doors in 1977), Applebees (opened its doors in 1984), dry erase board shop (opened its doors in 1992) and more. In addition to being an important home base for many local businesses throughout their day-to-day operations, The Gables also played an important role during World War II – it housed military personnel who needed food while they were stationed outside Dallas HQ at Fort Worth Army Airfield (now Fair Oaks Airport). In order to ensure that all troops received their nutritional needs without mercy – even those with dietary restrictions – army officials set up stockpiles at The Gables throughout 1942 so that no soldier had to go hungry while serving his country overseas! Although not always easy or popular due to its size or location within walking distanceof most residents – The Gables remained oneof PLainVIEW’s defining landmarks over the years and still functions as both commercial space andresidential community today

Plainview is a small town in Llano County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock–San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community has been inhabited since 1836 and was founded on the lands of what is now Clear Creek Ranch.[1] In 1881, Plainview became one of fifty communities intx that were organized as the Colony of San Marcos. In 1862, Captain John Wesley Powell discovered oil in what would later be known as Plainview. The oil company founded by John Denton began production soon afterwards and marketed its product under the name "Denton Petroleum".[2] The town's first school was built in 1865 and officially opened on November 5th by Dr. J.W. English (founder of English Land & Water Company). A post office was established at Plainview in 1875 and remained open until it closed on October 6th, 1907.[3][4] The community experienced some growth during World War II due to its proximity to Fort Worth and Ship Channel Naval Weapons Station,[5][6][7] but it declined following the war's end. Despite this decline, Plainview continued to grow slowly through the 1990s and 2000s thanks to various businesses such as software development companies[8], agricultural interests[9],[10][11] and other small-scale industries[12]. However, with economic growth comes increased crime rates which have led to a decline in overall visitation over the past few years; however, new businesses are being born each year which hope to revive local economy.[13][14]

In 1929, oil was discovered at Pine View and rapid growth followed as industry increased trade with neighboring towns. By the early 1900s, PlainVIEW had become one of North Texas' most important communities because of its proximity to major transportation hubs and its ability to support a large number of businesses. During World War II, PlainVIEW played an important role in providing munitions production fortexas coast artillery batteries. After the war ended, many businesses closed down due to depleted resources and changes in technology which led to declines in business throughout North Texas over the next decade or so.
