Plainview is a small town in Dallas County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Allen also helped build a sawmill at plainVIEW on Haynesville creek where he also operated a grocery business until 1901 when it merged with phase two of A&P's store chain that operates today as Walmart . In 1902, Harlan Williams began operations of Williams et al Hardware Store at 114 S Main Street in PlainVIEW which became one of the most important stores in PlainVIEW during its early years. One reason why Williams' store thrived was because he stocked only domestic items such as hardware and plumbing supplies while mostDallas County businesses then sold goods made overseas or by local manufacturers subject to higher import tariffs than those levied against American products exported into Mexico/Canada or even Europe! The importance of this locally owned store can be seen by how long it held its own against larger retailers such as Kmart or Sears which opened up shop adjacent to Williams' building beginning around World War II! In 1886, when Medina County was created fromtx Harris County, Plainview became one of its earliest municipalities. In 1907-1908, two local businesses were combined to form the City of Plainview which still exists to this day as it is an unincorporated community managed by the City Council with limited powers subordinate only to those delegated by law to them including taxation and contracting responsibility for services rendered within their boundaries (such as fire fighting).
