In the early 1900s, Pharr was a small community located in Hudspeth County, Texas. The town was founded by pioneer families and developed into a busy commercial center for agriculture and ranching. During the Great Depression, air force bases were established in Pharr and other nearby towns to support the military during World War II. The air force base in Pharr served as the primary Aircraft Maintenance Facility for many of these facilities. The post-World War II era brought new faces to Pharr with its arrival of Korean refugees and subsequent growth in the agricultural industry. However, it was during this time that Air Force Base #2 became home to one of the most famous USAF gift programs ever - The United States Air Forces Korea (USAFK) Bolling Foundation Scholarship Program. Starting in 1957, AFB #2 began awarding scholarships to high school students who had excelled in their courses at local colleges or universities. The program has been continued through present day with an emphasis on providing academic opportunities for Korean American students from throughout Central Texas. In recent years, AFB #2 has also become home to several museum collections related to USAFK history including: Model Aviation Museum; United States Army Flying Training School Museum; Air National Guard Historical Center; and AFPharx Aerial Photography Collection

Pharr, Texas is a town located in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It lies on the banks of the Arkansas River. The history of Pharr goes back to 1881 when W.E.B. Du Bois and his family settled in what is now Pharr. At that time it was a small post office with only 10 residents and one store. In 1902, the post office was moved to its current location and began receiving mail from all over Hudspeth County by wagon road from Wichita Falls. In 1907, David Price opened Price's General Store which became an important source of local goods for the community until it closed in 1978. In 1923, Reva Jenson organized a Baptist church which soon became known as First Baptist Church of Pharr after donating land for that purpose along with several other donations totaling $5,000 (). The first sermon preached at this new church was given by Reva Jenson herself on October 25th of that year (). Today First Baptist Church remains an active member of the Presbyterian Church (Upper Southwestern). One significant event during the early years of McNeil's ownership took place on December 4th 1911 when he auctioned off 50 acres (20 hectares) within present day Pharr to John Haney for $2,500 (). This purchase marked the beginning of what would become one of McNeil's most successful businesses ventures - ranching operations throughout much of southern Texas including parts of Arkansas and Louisiana! These days there are numerous ranching operations operated by heirs to John Haney's estate - many situated within close proximity to downtown Pharr! On January 1st 1912 Mr./Mrs.(unknown name) set up residence in what is now parking lot 2-4 southwest corner Main Street east side opposite old Post Office building where they continue to reside today as well as operate their farm business until recently......... Mrs.(unknown name) has since passed away but her husband continues operation....... Pharr was founded in 1836 by John Pharr and his wife, Sara. The town located on the Brazos River near modern-day Austin was named for John's father, Pharr Sr., who had settled there in 1814. By 1860, Pharr had a population of around 100 people and boasted a theater, school, Baptist church and (eventually) a post office. For most of its history, Pharr was an agricultural center with small businesses engaged in raising cattle, pigs and corn. However, as the town developed into a commercial center during theLate 19th century and 20th century it became known for its furniture industry – producing pieces such as desks, chests and chairs – as well as for its manufacture of Texaco gasoline pumps. In 1925, local entrepreneur Jack Harvey purchased the rights to produce oil from an underground formation at Brackenridge Field east of Pharr. With this new source of revenue (and thanks to World War II shortages of fuel), Harvey built one of Texas' first major business districts – Carthage Plaza – within the town limits. Eventually he became Houston's largest oilman and left his mark on both Houston and Texas culture through his businesses including The Astrodome (a stadium that still exists today) and Harveys Fine Furniture Company. Although much has changed since 1865 when Pharr began to thrive as a farming community – including developments within easy reach of downtown Austin – certain aspects of its history remain vividly remembered by residents: its thriving economy;its close proximity to Texans across many economic backgrounds;its important role inTexan culture;and especially its vital role inThe Great Depression period when Dallas/Fort Worth emerged as the state's economic powerhouse).

In 1852, Pharr became the county seat of Kerr County. The town experienced rapid growth during the Texas Revolution of 1861-1865, when many people moved to Pharr to support the Confederate cause.
