Company C served with distinction during World War II and received the highest awards possible. In 1951, Governor John Connally established the Department of Public Safety in order to provide law enforcement services to the community. The department authorized donation of surplus military equipment from state agencies and private individuals. This led to the creation of Company E (The Pasadena Police Cadets) in 1954 and subsequent donation from other state agencies. In 1957, Unit D (The Pasadena Firefighters) were donated and serve today as an important part of Pasadena's emergency response system. Today, there are three active battalions within the National Guard: Company B (The Alhambra Rangers),Company A (The San Gabriel Guards), andUnit G (The La Jolla Marines). Each battalion has its own insignia and colors which represent their respective service eras in Pasadena's history: Service Years 1930-1940; 1941-1945; 1946-1949; 1950-1955; 1956-1960; 1961-1965; 1966-1970 There is also a detachment stationed at Baylor University in Waco, Texas under command of Colonel Michael JONES who provides support for Santa Fe County Sheriff's Department events throughout North Texas

Pasadena, Texas is a town in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 7,026 at the 2010 census. It is part of the El Paso–Edinburg–Jalisco Metropolitan Statistical Area. Pasadena was founded on November 12, 1874 by John Wesley Wright and his wife Nellie Bickerton Wright as a railway stop on the Montreal and Los Angeles Railway. In 1879 the townsite was renamed Pasadena after its then-owner Pasadena City Councilman Lorenzo Dowling. The Town of Pasadena became an independent city on December 15, 1912 under the provisions of the Texas Constitution which granted local self-government to cities with over twenty thousand residents. On January 1, 1913 Pasadena's first mayor and council were elected with Wm Denton as mayor and A.G. True as vice mayor. The first city ordinance authorized streetlights and incorporation of a fire department In 1917 two major oil refineries were built in East Pasadena: American Petroleum Company's Briggs Refinery (now known as Marathon) and Shell Oil Company's North American refinery (now ExxonMobil). The rigs produced high levels of benzene which contaminated groundwater supplies for many years until 1979 when operators capped them off to prevent further release due to legal requirements that refineries produce less than 40% benzene by weight. In addition to production increases it led directly to increased demand for water rights from adjacent municipalities so development accelerated along what is now I-10 near present day Westwood Boulevard
