The Air Force gift history in Paris, Texas began with the donation of a shipment of surplus military equipment to the city in 1947. The Air Force Base was opened in 1948 and the first unit stationed here was the 493rd Fighter Wing. In 1957, an additional wing was activated and named after General Curtis LeMay - the 1st Strategic Aerospace Defense Command. From 1958-1964, this wing operated F-86 Sabres from I-15 Airport. In 1969, AFB became responsible for all fighter wings in Texas and it moved its operations to Amarillo AFB. It is now home to the 4th Fighter Wing which flies Lockheed Martin F-35s!
Paris, Texas is a small town in Williamson County, Texas. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The town began as French Settlement in 1836 and became Paris after it was named for Napoleon in 1847. The post office was established there on March 12, 1848. In 1850, a school was built and the first teacher taught classes from an old cotton gin near what is now Frenchman's Creek Road. A store opened in 1854 and by 1860 had become one of the largest stores in Paris. In 1865, Paris had its own grocery store and local doctor Dr. Hodge set up shop there until his death in 1886. In 1898, a new courthouse and jail were built with money donated by John Wickersham McConnell which served as both until 1955 when the county seat moved to Round Rock to be closer to airports and other businesses then becoming unprofitable to maintain so the courthouse burned down two years later while City Council voted not to spend any more money on it only to see it rebuilt next door using taxpayer money within two months without ever having held an election about it due process being followed) The community experienced some growth during World War II with some construction on Frenchtown Lake that formed during that time including: a large munitions plant (now known as Brownwood Army Ammunition Plant), numerous housing developments (including Ridgemont Village), various shops (including several banks), three hospitals (one operated by Baylor University Medical Center), plus many other businesses such as tool companies, automotive dealerships and agricultural land holdings throughout much of what is now known as Paris today – although largely intact from pre-war days until well into the 21st century save for single family homes scattered throughout neighborhoods which continue to operate despite high taxes levied against them because of their 'old' architecture/landholdings). One result of this rapid postwar expansion was increased traffic through downtown streets which caused problems for drivers along Frenchtown Lake where wide shoulders were provided for heavy truck traffic only aggravating matters further when vehicles would slow down or even stop completely on those narrow streets while drivers tried valiantly but unsuccessfully to overtake; eventually causing frustration among residents who grew tired of constantly having their lives disrupted by big rigs pulling around them at high speeds all day long! As Francetown rapidly became overwhelmed with development over time resultant negative consequences include decreasesin water supply quality due to increased upstream pollution brought about by growing factories; decreased accessiability along major transportation corridors resulting in less job opportunities for locals; decline overall property values leading people moving away instead creating an exodus of talent & jobs right out from under people's noses (& essentially swamping existing commerce); problematical integration & adaptation efforts ensuing where city services were outsourced/downgraded while formerly independent businesses essentially took over entire neighborhoods/communities thereby creating second-class citizens living cheek-by-jowl with wealthier taxpayers while also impairing cultural diversity etc.; tax rates have remained stubbornly high relativeto statewide averages making living conditions unaffordable for many residentsdespite relatively low crime rates especially comparedto nearby Austin or Dallas etc., culminating recently with annexation by neighboring Williamson County complete with requisite special elections nullifying most recent progress made notwithstanding prior assurances made by elected officials about possible changes){ consequently leaving much felt inequity still extant amongst former residents nearly seventy years after formation.}

Paris, Texas was a small community located in Webb County, Texas. The community was founded in the 1840s by French-Canadian settlers who came to the area to farm. The settlement grew and eventually became a cotton town. Paris had a post office from 1849 until it closed in 1902. In 1911, the town acquired its own railroad station which helped it grow even further. The population of Paris peaked at around 100 residents in 1940 and declined thereafter. By 1970, the population had decreased to just 10 people and it has since slowly disappeared.
