Orange, Texas is a town located in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area and is bordered by Arlington to the north, Garland to the east, Plano to the south and Irving to the west. The name "Orange" comes from two Spanish words: Oranges (oranges) and una (one). In 1836, General Antonio López de Santa Anna led an army into Orange County in order to overthrow Mexico's Captain general Fernando Carrillo about abandoned plantations near what is now downtown Orange. Santa Anna's forces burned most of Carrillo's crops before routing him and his men from Orange County on July 10th 1836. The event became known as "the Battle of Orange." The town formed around this battle site where many people gathered to commemorate it including James Fenton who served as President pro tempore of the United States Senate from 1851-1857; postmaster George Waring; dentist A.H Hill; Methodist Episcopal Church minister John Sibley; Universalist preacher Zephaniah Swift; lawyer Andrew Jenson; physician Drs Samuel Morse and Willis Hoggall also participated in or helped organize celebrations throughout central Texas that week leading up to Independence Day on July 4th 1836. In 1840, Treaty of Pleasanton was signed between Spain and America resulting in annexation of parts of Mexico by America including portions of Orange County which would later become known as Texarkana. At this time there were only a few hundred residents living within what are now downtown orange streetscape buildings dating back to that early 1800s period when settlers first arrived with their livestock grazing on these same land that’s still present today just off US 75W next door to Wal-Mart across from IH 35W

Orange, Texas is a town in Cameron County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The first humans to live in Orange were Paleo-Indians, who hunted and gathered wild plants and animals near the present day city of Austin. In 1836, Captain John Fenton established a trading post in what is now Orange. In 1839 – 1840 Colonel James Baughman established a ranch in what is now Orange. A post office was founded at Orange on July 4, 1845 by Captains George Waddell and John Fenton with the name "Santa Rita". The townsite was named after General Ulysses S. Grant's wife Santa Rosa de la Vega who had been born there in 1787. In 1860 Orange saw its first immigrant arrival when German Lutheran missionaries from Hesse arrived to start a new church here. From then until World War II there were intermittent waves of refugees coming to orange via Ellis Island; most often Poles but also Ukrainians and Slovenians during those years before America entered World War II (1941-1945). Among these recent immigrants were many notable business people and residents like Jack Welch (the founder of GEICO), Marvin Minsky (a mathematician who developed artificial intelligence), Milton Friedman (a Nobel Prize Winner) and several Hollywood stars like Cary Grant and Shirley Temple

However, Orange has continued to grow economically and culturally since then and today is one of the most vibrant cities in Texas.
