Orange is a city in Cameron County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Cameron County. The first permanent settler in Orange was James Hogg, who arrived in 1827 and platted what is now Orange on the east bank of the San Antonio River. In 1829, David McGee built a cabin on an bluff above the river and named it "McGee's Bluff." In 1831, Fayetteville resident George Waddell claimed land adjoining McGee's Bluff and laid out a town called Waddell's Landing on both banks of the river. By 1835, all three settlements were combined to form Orange. In 1840, orange orchards were being grown by local farmers near present-day Main Street and Congress Avenue; these Oranges became known as "Old Orange" because they continued to be produced until after World War II. After passage of the Texas Constitution in 1850 amendment giving voting rights to Texans statewide (rather than just those within each congressional district), white residents began moving into Orange from surrounding counties and townships during that decade. The influx led to growth in business activity and induced development around what is today First Street NW between Congress Avenue NE and US Highway 281 SW; this area became known as Olde Towne OC (or simply "Orange"). A schoolhouse was built here in 1861 for use by students attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; it served as a community center until 1916 when it burned down. Over time various stores, churches, hotels/motels and other businesses grew up along First Street NW; such areas as Midtown OC (now part of downtown Houston), Post Oak OC (near Lamar University) and Vinegar Hill OC (in front of Rice University) are still evidence of early commercial activity in Orange – some dating back to before 1850! On July 3rd 1865 – one day after Confederate General Robert E Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House – Union general Ulysses S Grant posted notice throughout Cameron County reading: "All property taken by rebels must be delivered up forthwith." Many Confederate soldiers had hid their weapons among orchard trees prior to surrendering so no arms were seized; many farms also remained unoccupied due to lack of food supplies following hostilities concludes days later! 2 years later on October 15th 1870 Cameron County passed an ordinance providing for black suffrage within its borders via male citizens only “white men who can read & write” could vote from then on although some voters did cast ballots through secret ballot methods Foremost among these citizens was future president James Kenedy whose father ran a store next door to White Hall School which helped him learn about electioneering One recently restored building located across I-10 from old courthouse remnant still has original post office box with associated letterpress typesetting Big league baseball player Tom Seaver played his final game for Corpus Christi Hooks minor league affiliate Oceanside Lumberjacks against Santa Ana Dodgers at old ballpark December 5th 1950

Orange, Texas is a town in Hardin County, Texas, United States. It was founded in 1876 by John C. Orange and named for the orange blossom orchards that dot the landscape around it. The population was 584 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita Falls–Saginaw Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Orange was John C. Orange, who arrived in 1876 from Maryland with his wife and three children. They established a small farm on what is now FM 471 about four miles (6 kilometers) northeast of today's town center. In 1880, John C. Orange purchased an allotment of land east of present-day town limits from James Ahern and erected a log cabin thereon as his home until he sold it to Samuel Jarvis in 1902 for $3 per acre ($ today). In 1881, another resident, Cornelius Hodge, bought one acre (0.40 km²) east of town limits from Jarvis for $2 per dollar ($ today). He developed a wheat farming operation thereon which produced flour and other crop products until 1906 when he sold his interest to Julius Latham Jr., also of Maryland for $2 per acre ($ today). Hodge's heirs continue to own much of their original farmland within present-day Orange; some has been subdivided into parcels measuring less than half anacre (0.24 hectares). During World War II, many workers who had retired from agriculture came back to work on munitions plants located near Orange; these were among the most hazardous jobs in American society at that time and resulted in many health problems among those working there during wartime stress periods such as polio outbreaks or atomic bombing raids on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Orange, Texas was founded in 1845 as the town of Orangeburg. In 1868, it became the city of Orange and in 1901 it became a state capital. The current name for Orange is Texas (although some people still call it "Orangeburg").
