Since then, both groups have continued to serve alongside each other throughout various wars and peacekeeping efforts around the world – most notably Operation Neptune Spear which took place between October 2007-December 2009 in Afghanistan while members of both units provided essential support to NATO forces fighting Taliban insurgents from across that country’s border with Pakistan). POST-9/11 GI JOURNALISM: A STATE OF TRANSITION In order for our nation to heal following 9/11 – including through restoration of trust and rebuilding – we must establish an effective national guard force whose mission is not onlyto protect our citizens but also provide homeland security services included within law enforcement responsibilities…. It is my hope that this investigative report will provide policymakers with insights into how such an organization can be established within existing resources without compromising or infringing upon First Amendment rights….. While there are many issues yet to be addressed surrounding militia activity inside America post-9/11 (elements like gun confiscation & registration; traditional roles & functions within militia; roleplaying), this investigative report provides valuable insight into how such a program could be put into place immediately should events require federal response….. By providing policymakers access to what is currently happening on both sides of our great American divide we can begin piecing together where things need improvement before we even reach crisis point……
