Nederland, Texas is located in the Western United States. It is bordered by California to the north and east, and Mexico to the south. The population of Nederland was 5,856 as of the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1849 by Dutch settlers who arrived on horseback. The name "Nederland" means "New Netherlands." In 1872, a post office was established in Nederland and remained in operation until 1976. In 1886, a sawmill was built in Nederland and continues to be used today. In 1970, a High School for grades 7-12 was constructed adjacent to the mill. The school closed in 2001 but reopened in 2009 as an adult education center with several classrooms and an auditorium. The town has one grocery store, one convenience store, two restaurants, one barbershop/beauty salon, three small businesses (one selling health food products), four churches (twoMethodist and two Lutheran), two public schools (grades Pre-K through 12th grade), one private school (grades 1-6) and one park (Netherlands Park). In addition to its namesake water tower - also known as "the Kloof" or "Creek," Dutch settlers planted tens of thousands of trees around Nederland which provide much needed shade during summertime; dozens of small ponds dot the landscape while numerous creeks offer fishing opportunities; hiking trails lead up to many high peaks near Dutchtown; deer roam free throughout most areas while Armstrong County offers a wide variety of outdoor activities including golfing at nearby Hill Country Golf Club; tennis courts are available at Netherlands Park; several large factories have been built within easy driving distance providing employment for many people during off hours; local farmers market provides fresh produce along with baked goods from local bakery every week day

In 1836, the Republic of Texas was founded by Texans who had fled Mexico. The new country was land that had been claimed by both the United States and Mexico. In 1848, the Mexican-American War began when a group of American soldiers marched into what is now Houston to claim it as their own territory. On November 16, 1848, General Sam Houston won an engagement at San Jacinto and took control of Texas from Mexican forces. The war ended with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which ceded all but about 3 percent of Texas to Mexico. This left much unsettled territory in which Texans could live without fear of Mexican retribution. land grants were given to individuals or groups in order to settle this area and create a community for themselves. One such grant was made to John Neely Bryan on November 20, 1849. Baylor Ranch became known as Nederland because it rested on a bluff overlooking the mouth of Buffalo Bayou near present day Houston
Nederland, Texas is a city in Teksas County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,723 at the 2010 census. The town was named for Dutchman Hendrik Nederlander and his family who had come to the area in 1851. The first post office in Nederland was established in 1872. The first store opened in 1876. In 1905, many locals chose to move away from Texoma due to the Great Railroad Strike of that year and started a new town called McKinney. However, after only a few years of growth McKinney faded away and all its businesses closed down within a few years. In 1916 the new Nederland Consolidated school district was created out of portions of McKinney and other nearby towns when those areas were annexed by Texoma. After World War I ended the community became increasingly isolated as rail transportation dwindled and not many people wanted to live near an oil refinery with high taxes. In 1935 Nederland consolidated with another small town named Edinburg which also happened to be located adjacent to Texoma on FM 620 east of town limits (Edinburg later merged into Amarillo). This caused some tension as both towns claimed jurisdiction over nameless streets within their respective boundaries- something which never really stopped until they eventually agreed to merge into one larger municipality in 2006 when both towns lost all their independent charter status following annexation by Amarillo’s City government.) While it may have been smaller geographically than neighboringTexoma it still boasted an impressive number of businesses totaling more than 100 including several banks, two grocery stores, two insurance companies and three car dealerships beforeDecline began creeping throughout most aspects of early twentieth century life here – though there were still enough people living hereabouts “to keep things going” – until finally everything went downhill about 1945 or so simply because no one wanted anything to do with this place anymore.,
