The Marine Gift History of Nederland, Texas was compiled and written by Pieter J.H. van den Berg in 1992. It is a compilation of gift data from various Dutch citizens who lived in the area at the time. In 1853, Michael de Vries donated land to the city of Nederland for a naval base. Nederland is a town in Cameron County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,715 at the 2010 census. It is the second-largest town in Cameron County and it lies on the border of Nueces County to the east and Hidalgo County to the west. The name of Nederland comes from Dutch settlers who Came overlanders in 1836. They named their new community after themselves, Netherland (meaning 'New Holland'). In 1840, an act of Congress renamed all of Cameron and Nueces Counties in Texas after states in the Union - this included Nederland. The town was founded by farmers who came overLAND for subsistence reasons only and not as a permanent settlement. A post office was established at Netherland on December 15, 1845, under the name Eden Prairie; it remained open until it closed on May 17, 1880. The first school opened in Netherland on October 25th of that year. After two years of operation with only 14 student enrollment there were enough students to start a high school which opened its doors July 3rd 1896 under the name New England High School; however due to several problems with building materials and lack of funds this high school closed within one year due to financial difficulties again caused by overpopulation/economic decline combined with bad management practices by then Principal Mr George Stephenson! On January 8th 1899 they started serving meal service for those attending Prairie View A&M University so that those without food could still attend classes! Eventually this program grew into what we know today as Dakota Food Service! When New England High School closed it left many students homeless again so they set up their own tent campground which served as their final resting place until recently when construction began on a new school building which will serve as both our future library and future center for cultural events such as art exhibits etc! finally we can finally say our town has stabilized somewhat since becoming known as "Netherland"

Nederland, Texas is a small town in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,045 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. Nederland was founded in 1876 by Dutch colonists as a small trading post on the San Antonio River. The post office and school were established there in 1877. In 1880, Nederland became the county seat of Williamson County and the first store opened in that year. The Santa Fe Railroad constructed a line through Nederland in 1886; this helped to develop the local economy and support early settlers. In 1907, the town's first hotel was built; it served as an interim courthouse until 1929 when a new courthouse was completed. A fire destroyed most of Nederland in 1916 but later that year it re-opened with modern facilities and continued to grow into its present size. In 1932, construction began on what would become Zandvoort Dam which impounded parts of Lake Travis and gave rise to one of Austin's earliest nickname - "the lake where cattle are raised". The dam also led to increased irrigation use for agriculture in neighboring counties and helped create what is now known as downtown Austin along with other neighborhoods around it. As industries grew more important within Austin over time such as engineering research centers NASA Johnson Space Center (now KSC) and other government institutions arose nearby including UT Southwestern Medical Center (now Dallas/Fort Worth Methodist Hospital). With rapid growth came increased traffic congestion which caused issues with water usage leading to efforts by both city leaders and developers beginning around 1970s onwards to provide arterial streets connecting downtown Austin with several surrounding neighborhoods becoming desirable centerpieces for real estate developments attractive both from an economic standpoint as well as Viewspoint perspective Eaton Place being significant shopping area while University Park ringed then newer development along Interstate 35 all set off against older areas industrializing or failing further south such as Mueller Airport near Longview etc., giving birth today finally finally autonomous city governance by way of Beltway corridor apartment buildings created since then without taking into account agricultural production vital for many rural poor who still live within commuting distance
