After a few years of growth, de Witt decided to sell his coffee beans inland to larger companies so he could continue growing his crops year-round instead of having them shipped out each season. This gave American farmers a chance to learn about Coffee production and make money from their product! By 1845, when Texas became part of the United States of America, Coffee was an important commodity exports that helped fuel development throughout the state. In 1848, John Kirby started brewing Coffee at his ranch near Fort Worth using water from nearby creeks and rivers! Today’sfresh roasted coffees come from some of the same places where Kirby used to roast his beans – including parts of New Mexico and Oklahoma! Nederland, Texas is a small town located in the panhandle of Texas. The population was 5,886 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area and is served by the Fort Worth Independent School District. The town was founded in 1881 by Dutch Americans who had moved to Texas from New York City. Nederland became a word for "the Netherlands" in English because so many Dutch immigrants had settled there. The name comes from "New Netherland," an area that included what is now Utica, New York; Amsterdam, Netherlands; and Westchester County, New York. In 1840, six men from Nederland founded the village of Fredericksburg on Buffalo Bayou near present-day Arlington Heights in northeastern Dallas County. That settlement failed but another group established a post office there in 1845 and called it Nederland. By 1851, when settlers started moving into what would become Nederland, they were using variations of "Dutchtown." The first school opened in 1881 and was operated by Methodist missionaries under instruction from American Indians. A second school was built and open to white students only after 1900 when all schools were integrated throughout Dallas County. However, this vote was vetoed by then-Governor Price Daniel as it did not take into account nearby Arlington Heights’s petition for annexation that same year.
