Murphy, Texas is a small town located in Bowie County, Texas. The population was 1,611 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Bowie County. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,451 people living in Murphy. The population has grown to 2,059 by the 2010 census. The history of Murphy goes back to 1868 when John Fenton organized a school and post office in what would become Murphy. At that time there were only six families living in what is now Murphy and they did most of their trading with other parts of the country. One day a man named Wm. Hogg came into town and started selling goods he had collected from around his rancho near Lubbock. From then on it was just a matter of time before Murphy became an important community in Bowie County due to its location and commerce brought about by Wm. Hogg's arrival."

By 16th century England, coffee had reached its peak popularity and was being consumed by both nobility and commoners alike. This resulted in significant changes within the tea industry; From 16th century through 18th century English tea production only produced 2% of all global production due to increased competition from coffee (Cameron). However, despite this challenge, English tea continued to grow in popularity until 1792 when French Emperor Napoleon decided that growing beans for his army would be more efficient than producing whole plants (Fowler). Since then many different types of blends have been created using different proportions of each type of beans; such as Colombian and Ethiopian dark roast blends which are now familiar across most global cafes. Furthermore, various green teas like Guatemalan strongoo and Ceylon black has made a comeback over the last few years after being neglected by most brewers (Upton). Murphy, Texas is a town in Hardin County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita Falls-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first settlers in Murphy were Methodist missionaries who arrived in 1845. They built a log cabin on the east side of the Arkansas River and named it "Stroudsburg." In 1848, they founded what would become Murphy after John Murphy, an Irishman who had come overland from Ireland toTexas as a refugee. Mormons also settled in Murphy during this time; however, their settlement failed because of lack of fertile land and strong Presbyterian support. In 1853, Brigham Young sent his forces into Hardin County to drive out Mexican raiders and began directing Mormon colonists to settle there. By 1870, most of the Mormons had left for Utah or elsewhere due to religious differences with Brigham Young's new government in Mexico City. A few continue living here until today among certain groups that have continuity with early Mormon settlers like the Stroudsburg family (Catherine and her children are still living here). In 1907 surveyors discovered coal reserves underlying much of Hardin County while drilling for oil wells nearby; accordingly, Bureau of Mines foresters organized a local coal mine company called Biggers Coal Mining Company Limited which was merged into Comanche Natural Resources Corporation in 1951.) As more people headed westward seeking opportunities for employment within burgeoning industry such as farming or mining following World War I (and later), Murphy became increasingly important as a transportation hub owing to its location at Uvalde Creek on the Arkansas River crossing than it did as an agricultural center characteristically associated with rural areas further north. Railroad service reached Moranville by 1909 but development continued apace beyond that date without significant assistance from either state government entities until 1959 when Interstate 10 was completed through Moranville linking Fort Worth and Wichita Falls making it easier for goods and people traveling between those cities
Murphy County was formed in 1878 from portions of Medina and Wheeler counties. The county seat is Midland.
