Midlothian's demise did not mean its demise as an inhabited place though. Through donations from individuals, schools, businesses, and other organizations, Midlothian has been resurrected over the years as a cultural center for nearby Texans. In addition to hosting several annual events such as arts festivals and car shows, Midlothian is home to several small museums which offer local history exhibits on Tuesdays at 7 p.m., Thursdays at 4 p.m., Saturdays at 1 p.m.,and Sundays at 12 p.m.(the last two days are open only to school groups). Additionally, there is now an effort underway by developers to bring back some of Midlothian's former businesses including restaurants, retail stores, and even a movie theater!

Midlothian became an important center of oil production and trade, and its businesses flourished thanks to the new industry. The city experienced significant growth during the post-World War II period, becoming one of the most populous in Texas.
