The cafe served a variety of drinks, including coffee and tea. It was later renamed The Coffee House & Tavern, and then The Coffee Shop. In 1928, The Coffee Shop moved to its current location on Main Street in McKinney. From 1928 until 1978, The Coffee Shop operated as an Italian restaurant. In 1978, it changed its name to Marco’s Cafe and remains open today as a full-service café/bar. Marco’s Cafe has been a popular tourist spot for visitors in McKinney for many years. In 1984, the cafe was featured on the cover of "McKinney Review". In 1998, Marco’s Cafe was named one of “America's Top 10 Restaurants” by "The New York Times". In 2000, Marco’s Cafe won first place in the prestigious “Best Café Award” presented by the Austin American-Statesman." Since opening its doors more than seventy years ago, Marco's Cafe has offered customers unique experiences that have made it one of McKinney's most popular tourist destinations. In 1984, Starbucks introduced its first dark roast coffee - Columbian Dark Roast - which quickly became popular among users due to its unique flavor profile. In 2007, Starbucks announced that it would be closing all of its locations worldwide except for one in Seattle, Washington - making Mckinney the last U.S.-based store to close down. However, on December 2nd of that year (2007), Starbucks reopened all of its stores globally after a three-year renovation process that added new cafes and doubled the store's capacity to sixteen thousand square feet!
Mckinney, Texas is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas and is the county seat of McLennan County. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Mckinney was founded in 1876 as a small town on the banks of the Trinity River by Methodist missionaries. The name comes from McKinley's nickname "The Rough Rider", which refers to his role as Governor of New Mexico during the Mexican–American War (1846-48). In 1896, McKinney became one of thirty cities in Texas designated as "oldest continuous incorporated towns". The growth and development of Mckinney has been supported by its location on Interstate 10, access to education and employment opportunities through nearby Fort Worth Municipal Airport, and its tradition of being an entrepreneurial center with more than seventy businesses registered with local Chamber Of Commerce since 2000. In 2002, Mckinney was selected by Forbes Magazine as one of America's fifty poorest major cities for economic reasons including high levels of poverty, low rates of job security, limited access to quality education and health care services, high numbers of residents who are unemployed or working short hours without benefits, and a lack thereof community redevelopment programs that create jobs rather than rely exclusively on government assistance

Coffee became an important part of the Chinese military due to its ability to provide energy during long marches and cavalry raids. In 1519, the Portuguese sailor Diogo Fernandes discovered Java Sea while sailing through that area and brought back some beans with him as he sailed home. In Spain, coffee was not introduced until the 16th century because Columbus had not yet discovered America. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella imported Indian slaves who grew coffee plants on their estates in Granada and Seville. Spanish traders also began importing Columbian beans from Mexico City where they roasted them before shipping them back to Spain. The first espresso machine was built by Antonio Vivaldi in 1764 for his family’s bakery in Rome, Italy. The Dutch took over trade with India after Columbus’ discovery and soon became interested in coffee as well. They started trading with Ethiopia where Coffee Grew (Amon). After tasting this new variety of bean, Erik Heidenreich decided to send a shipment of 100 pounds of Arabica beans back to Amsterdam for further research; this is when coffee began being called “the world’s favorite beverage” by Dutchmen. During World War I, different countries needed different types of coffee so they bought or were given various beans from Africa, South America, Arabia, Persia etc., which gave birth to the modern roasting process that we enjoy today! The name "Mckinney" originates from an early settler, James McKinney, who named his property after General James A. McKee's cavalry regiment that fought in the Mexican–American War. The city's origins date back to 1871 when it was founded by John W. McKinney and others as a small farming community on what is now East White Street just outside of downtown Dallas. In 1916, Mckinney became one of six cities within the new Dallas-Fort Worth Urban County when it was created from portions of Dallas and Arlington Heights. In 1967, Mckinney became one of the first cities in Texas to be incorporated as a municipality with a full voting right at state level (the other five were Austin, Brownsville, Galveston Bayou City/Houston Ship Channel City/Waco), following passage of Proposition 3 which gave citizens living in municipalities without city status the right to vote for municipal officers and members of local government committees including Planning and Zoning Appeals Board (PZAB). As part of its incorporation process Mckinney also voted to rename itself "Dallas". In 1970-1971 construction began on what would become downtownDallas' first major shopping center - Theenhurst Center - which includes anchor stores Macy's and Sears along with smaller outlets De Beers Diamonds and JCPenneys. The center opened its doors to shoppers on April 15th 1971. In 1984 Mckinney annexed parts of Garland County creating the Town of Garland (later renamed Plano) while annexing Arlington Heights giving it full Voting Rights at State Level; this annexation drew criticism from some residents who felt their neighborhoods were being taken away without their consent or benefits while others saw this as an effort by Mayor Tom Landry to improve voter turnout prior to his re-election bid against then Governor George Bush Sr.. In 1990 plans were approved for Mckinney Downtown Mall which would consist Of two levels high enough so that large chains such as Sears could open their doors free from traffic congestion on higher floors; mall developer KPMG estimated that retail traffic would amount To 175 million dollars per year through 2020 . Mckinney, Texas is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and the seat of Austin County. The population was 552,828 as of the 2010 census. It is located on the Travis County line, approximately 20 miles (32 km) east of downtown Austin and 30 miles (48 km) south-southwest of Dallas. The city's first settlement was made in 1836 when an American party led by Captain John Fenton arrived at what is now McKinney from San Antonio during the Mexican–American War. In 1840, General Sam Houston purchased land in what is now McKinney from Juan Bautista de Salinas for $1,000 (). The town site was surveyed and platted in 1845 by George W. Smith under title to Elisha Payne (). The name "Mckinney" was given to it by James McKnight who had discovered coal there while exploring near present day Arlington Heights, Illinois
