Mckinney, Texas is a small town located in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,883 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area. Mckinney began as an agricultural center in 1836 and became a railroad junction in 1901. In 1907 it became the county seat of Midland County after the county was created from portions of Austin and Harris Counties. The town plat for Mckinney was filed on October 25, 1907.
