The United States Air Force has been providing air support to the nation since World War II. The USAF was founded on February 14, 1947 as the American Forces in Europe (AFCE). Today, the USAF employs more than 151,000 people and flies more than 150,000 missions a year.1 In Lubbock, Texas, the USAF operates three wing locations: Killeen-Fort Hood International Airport (KFIA), Dyess AFB (DEAS), and Lackland AFB (LAC). These facilities provide aircrews with operations and maintenance training as well as storage and sustainment services for military aircraft.2 The first planes provided by America were Type A bombers called P-51D Mustangs. The RAF supplied Spitfires which became known as "Tomahawks." The USAAF purchased 1,500 of these planes in 1951 for use against North Korea. After this service was completed in 1953, the Wisconsin National Guard began flying F-104 Starfighters from Dyess AFB.3 In 1955 Congress passed legislation authorizing development of an airborne warning system or AWS for use against missiles over Mexico City. This system would be known as Nike Hercules. On July 15 of that year Lockheed Aircraft Corporation delivered its first prototype reconnaissance airplane equipped with a photo radar device to Lubbock AFB under contract from NASA called SEADO III (Surface Echo Detection And Avoidance Demonstration III).4 With this technology it was possible to detect objects at very low altitudes without having to go through dense clouds or using high altitude radar techniques which could only be used when flying above 5 miles per hour3!5 In 1957 Congress authorized the purchase of 138 McDonnell Douglas DC-8s designated YF-12B which were put into service between Lubbock AFB and Killeen-Fort Hood International Airport in Texas; these planes had additional fuel capacity added for long range flights across international waters!6 By 1967 there were over 350 McDonnell Douglas C-130J Super Hercules aircraft based at forty sites throughout America!7 Nike Zeus is another name given to a reconnaissance plane made by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation that flew under contract from NASA called SEADO IV/Nike Zeus I during 1959–1960 during their developmental program named Nike Hercules II/Super Eagle II both prototypes; both models never reached production status however they remain historical artifacts due to their unique design features including two large antennas on top each side of fuselage similar in design to those on an Apollo moon landing helmet!

Lubbock is a city in West Texas, United States. The population was 147,898 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Logan County. Lubbock is located in the east-central part of the state and bordered on the north by Midland and on the south by Odessa. The city straddles an area known as the "Texas Panhandle", which includes parts of Baylor and Texas Tech University cities. The first Europeans to visit what is now Lubbock were Spanish explorers who arrived in 1519 after sailing from Mexico City under Francisco de Ulloa y Arellano. They named it San José de los Caballeros, but European settlement began only after 1836, when General Antonio López Castro founded El Paso del Norte trading post on Buffalo Bayou irrigation ditches just outside present-day downtown Lubbock. In 1881, US Senator James K. Polk visited Lubbock during his presidential campaign and announced his candidacy for president over then-Republican candidate John Quincy Adams; Adams won with 68% of the vote despite being outspent by Polk's $10 million advertising budget (Polk was impeached four years later). A year later, railroad magnate George Wickersham donated land at what is now Main Street corner First Avenue and Indian Hills Drive to become Wichita Falls Railroad Station; this donation forms today's eastern border of Wichita Falls Industrial Park adjacent to Downtown Lubbocks business district. On November 6th, 1886, NASAs USSsource reported finding a large oil field off Brazos Bayou about northeast of town lying within Mexican waters - this became known as Gulf Oil Field - becoming HOUSTON GULF COAL FIELD INC.#1 inEPOINT No 9/1886 . On February 26th 1888 Wickersham donated another piece of land - this time southeast from Main Street corner First Avenue and Indian Hills Drive - for future development into Wichita Falls Municipal Airport which would serve as one side runway for both Wichita Falls Railway Station & NASSource HQ until current day when that airport has been closed to all traffic due to competition from Hawkins International Airport nearby! The airport opened on October 1st 1912 with 4 runways: 7/23 (later 2), 17/35 (later 3) & 33/38 which remain active today! This original airport served as home base for both NASSource HQ & local military units deploying throughout World War II before it was replaced by Hawkins International Airport several decades ago! Local businesses started growing around NASSource HQ following its establishment so muchso that an annex was built adjacent to Main Street NE in 1990 called 'NASource Tower' which currently houses many local businesses including KHawkings International Radio Corporation., Midland Furniture Company., Lovejoy Drug Store., Kipling Fine Arts Gallery., etc.. That same decade also saw construction begin on what would eventually be known as downtown Lubbocks core - consisting primarily of a street grid system followed by highrise buildings designed by architect Alfred Glasnitzer – becoming one of America’s most reliable center blocks for corporate headquarters commands ever conceived! Today Downtown still features many iconic landmarks such as Phillips petrol station where author JAMES Fenton purchased gasoline supplies direct from station owner early back in 1920 ($2 per gallon!), Bank Of America building (#4), State Capitol Building (#5) – among many others!

On December 12th, 1945, General Hoyt S. Vandenberg bestowed upon the USAF a Lockheed P-2 Neptune reconnaissance plane in memory of his predecessor General James Doolittle who had lost his life in World War II flying for Japan). Throughout air force history there has been always been one goal: To support our nation’s military efforts at home and abroad with best possible equipment and resources. This ideology was embodied through many famous generals and officers who served within The USAAF throughout its years including MacArthur (the first US Supreme Commander), Eisenhower (the last Chief of Staff), Truman (the 44th President) and others who have helped shape American air power into what it is today.

However, this period of growth also produced some of Lubbocks most famous citizens including Mayor J C Crittenden and Gov James A Wickersham Sr.. during World War II many companies relocated their headquarters to downtown Dallas because of wartime demand for resources such as rubber and petroleum products; however, Lubbocks economy again took off following the end of hostilities with booming business activity in both housing construction and manufacturing sectors
