Longview, Texas is a town in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 6,912 at the 2010 census and 7,711 at the2015 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The town also played an important role in postwar reconstruction efforts by contributing both men and money to various projects such as building schools and roadways. After war ended in 1945, many residents moved out ofLongVIEW into other towns throughout Texas because of high joblessness rates following World War II. However, some longtime residents remain active within the community today through volunteer organizations such as First Baptist Church (Llongview) or American Legion Post #810 (Pecos).
