The company became one of the largest coffee roasters in the United States. In 1938, Edwin Lockhart died and his son, Stanley, took over the business. StanleyLockhart continued to grow Lockheart's coffee reputation for quality and service. The family also developed a line ofocolor teas under the name "Stanleylockharttea." In 1967, Stanley Lockhardtseeded his father's interest in the company into an independent company named "LockhART Coffee". In 1984, Stanley Lockhardtseeded his grandson Andrew into the business and continues to run it as an independently ownedathaillerycoffeehouse chain with seventeen stores across Texas and Oklahoma.
Lockhart, Texas is a town in Vernon County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita Falls–Hutchinson Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Lockhart" comes from Lockhart Fork of the Navarro River and was given to the community by Colonel James Bowie in 1846 as a gift for his daughter's future husband. The first post office in Lockhart opened on November 15, 1881. The current post office building was built in 1912 and is also named for Colonel James Bowie. The town was founded by Will Rogers and others in 1879 as a result of the Santa Anna-Mexican War. In that war, General Antonio López de Santa Anna lost an estimated 5,000 men and women during two months' campaigning through Vernon County. As a result of this event and other conflicts throughout Vernon County over the next several years, many small towns were formed around such key locations as Fort Worth (now Arlington), Wichita Falls (now Wichita), Big Spring (now Midland), San Angelo (now El Paso), Commerce City (now Midland Park), Raymondville (later Red Cloud) and Waco( later Waco). In 1886, Lockhart became one of 10 communities established within Vernon County when its county seat moved from Wichita Falls to Lockhart following passage of an act by the Texas Legislature creating Vernon County. At that time there were only 40 families living in what is now Lockhart. With exception of Lots DSize: 8x8′ off Hwy 183 south side.)(Robertson 1953) However federal intervention halted annexation proceedings on February 14th 1959 when then Dallas Mayor Jock Lindstrom vetoed legislation authorizing annexation based upon concerns about water resources available within Unincorporated Houston Parish adjacent to Lockhart proper affecting more than just Union Township but extending Consideration To Annex All Other Towns And Cities Affected thereby freezing all plans pending further action by government Officials.) Lockhart is a small town in Gregg County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,366 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. Lockhart was founded by Methodist missionaries in 1885 as a small farmstead on the banks of the Brazos River. The town grew rapidly following annexation by Gregg County in 1907 and became an important center for cotton production and ranching during the late 19th century and early 20th century. In World War II, Lockhart served as one of nine towns located withinFort Bliss National Military Park. The post office closed in 1984, but the ZIP code remains 77922 because it was annexed to Austin in 1985. The first school in Lockhart opened on November 22, 1886, with thirteen students enrolled from two local families. By 1888, there were four schools and seventy-two residents; by 1910 there were six schools and one thousand residents. A new courthouse was built in 1912; the old courthouse burned down in 1921. In 1923, Lockhart erected its first municipally owned store; it continued to operate until 1951 when it merged with the nearby town of Round Rock to form what is now Austin's largest city-owned convenience store chain—CVS Pharmacy (now CVS Health). In 1954, Lockhart also erected its first civic building: a brick courthouse that still stands today as part of Main Street Business District #2 downtown (just east of US 281). During World War II, Lockhart played an important role as one of nine towns located within Fort Bliss National Military Park; after hostilities ended, many American soldiers remained here while they awaited discharge or re-entry into civilian life.lockharttx

By the end of 1880, it had grown to over 1,000 people and had its own school system. In 1886, the first oil well was drilled in the area and production from that well began to increase the population's need for goods and services available within the community. In 1907, a post office was established in Lockhart and mail service began to be provided through another community about 12 miles away called Goliad. By 1912,lockhart had become an incorporated municipality with its own government and court system.
