Little Elm, Texas is a small town located in Tarrant County, Texas. The population was 1,740 at the 2010 census. Little Elm is located on the Texan border with Fort Worth. The first settlers in what is now Little Elm were Methodist missionaries who arrived in 1836. They built a log cabin and named it "Moses." The church moved to its present location in 1857 and soon became one of the most important institutions in the community. In 1881, Little Elm had an attendance of over 500 people and was home to three schools: two public and one private. In 1907, Little Elm became part of Dallas County when Dallas was created from parts of Tarrant and Travis Counties. In 1919, Little Elm was incorporated as a city within Dallas County under the name of “Elm City." By 1970, however, little evidence remained of this earlyCity’s existence other than some physical remnants that survive today as blocks of limestone quarried near downtown Elm City on FM 1960 (now US-69). In 2001–2002, work began on restoring downtown Elm City following a tornado that destroyed much of the town Centerline Drive in 2000. A $4 million project resulted which added new streetscape features such as sidewalks and streetlights; repaired or replaced roadways; installed water lines; created new gardens; refurbished several buildings including both churches and businesses; restored historic vehicles including buses and trucks; planted tree seedlings around select areas throughout downtown Elm City for future growth/protection; seeded cemeteries with volunteer labor during Heritage Days activities each year from late Spring through early Fall.; reconstructed portions of Centerline Drive which received no damage from the 2000 tornado but due to their proximity to I-635 they experienced significant flooding during heavy rainsstorms throughout 2002 springtime thru falltime.; reopened portions of Centerline Drive after repairs were made totaling about 2 miles long extending nearly all along its original length.; christened “Downtown Elm City” by Mayor Joe Busby III & Commissioners Glenda Anderson & Barry Switzer on September 12th2001 becoming official de facto designation until removed by order dated December 16th2001.(1) Since incorporation as a city in 1919Little Elm has undergone many changes including annexations into other municipalities (1924), bankruptcy (1998), re-incorporation into Dallas County (1999), fire sale (2006) followed by purchase by current citizens ($8 million) then redevelopment plan approval followed by construction starting in early 2007 only for funding delays ; demolition completed beginning2011txlege election result switched from Bush v Gore to Obama v McCain Barack Obama Civic Unity Commission Resolution No.: 2009-006

Little Elm, Texas is a town in Webb County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,836 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan statistical area. The first European to visit Little Elm was José de Atanasio on October 15, 1763. Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto camped near present-day Little Elm on November 16, 1769 and named it for his friend and mentor Antonio José de Urbina y Bautista who had also been to Mexico City that year as part of the expedition led by Gaspar Correa from Spain. In 1824 Little Elm was founded as a post office by James Denton with Waco being selected as itsadjacent post office two years later. In 1827 Lillie Ewing married John Paterell in nearby Grapevine and they moved to Little Elm where she started a cotton gin and he opened a store. They had four children: Charles (1828-1900), Matilda (1830-1902), John Paterell II (1832-1907) and Addie Jane (1835-1920). The first school in Little Elm was held in an old log cabin on what is now Main Street in 1829 according to oral history research conducted by Will Rogers Park historian Don Whitehurst. A second school building was erected in 1830 using money raised during local tax assessment season; this structure burned down three years later but not before teaching school for fourteen months until January 3, 1833 when classes were suspended due to lack of funds having been withheld from the building's owner because of rebel activity around town at the time. Lillie Ewing died infant daughter Addie Jane Arensberg on October 11th 1840 at age 2 days old following a fever contracted from bad air pollution caused by one of her father’s Baylor College classmates mining coal near Georgetown that year when little Elmer Arensberg was only 10 years old; she is buried along side her father next door at Green Lawn Cemetery under name “Addie Jane Arensberg” today with full honors including military death index number 9659017
