In 1919, the Little Elm Infantry Regiment was activated and organized. The regiment's first deployment was in World War I. From 1919-1921, the regiment served in France as an infantry battalion. In 1921, the regiment was reassigned to the states of Texas and Oklahoma and deployed to Mexico City for a two-year tour of duty. After their deployment, members of the regiment were honorably discharged from military service with distinction. From 1942-1945, the Little Elm Infantry Regiment served in Europe as part of Army Forces Europe during World War II. The regiment’s final deployment took place in 1945 when it relocated to Japan where it played a significant role in defeating Emperor Hirohito’s forces during World War II. The Little Elm Infantry Regiment has been a proud member of the Texas Army National Guard since its activation on December 4th, 1918. Since its inception, LEEI has deployments throughout Texas both domestically and abroad while playing an important role in our state's defense system. During peacetime deployments (1998-present), LEEI has reached out to service components located all over America through various outreach events such as rifle range days/meetings/community engagement opportunities; joint exercises; concerts or dances;achi karaoke night at local businesses; visits by unit commanders/commanders' wives/girlfriends etc.; providing support for Christmas functions for state troops stationed barracks across our state homeland - most notably Joint Base San Antonio Texarkana - not to mention numerous other community engagements inside or outside our state Capitol Building including Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Open House & State Fairgrounds Fiesta de la Raza parade

The history of Little Elm, Texas begins with the arrival of Anglo-American settlers in 1836. At that time, the area was located in what is now Houston County. The first structures were log homes, and the first school was built in 1840. A cotton gin was also erected in Little Elm during this time. In 1851, a post office was established at Little Elm, and by 1865, it had become a town. In 1893, a railroad station was built at Little Elm, and by 1907 it had become a city. In 1935, Little Elm became an independent republic under the name of Floresville. In 1942, it became an evening stagecoach stop on the Texaco Route 66 system. Little Elm, Texas is located in the U.S. state of Texas and is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The population was 1,651 as of the 2010 census. The town was named for Elijah Abel Little Elm, a Methodist preacher who had preached in nearby Arlington and Garland on what is now North Park Avenue. In 1871, Little Elm became an independent city with its own municipal government and a school system. It grew rapidly during the late 19th century as oil discoveries began to be made in nearby Winkler County and as Southern Railway passengers traveling through Arlington or Garland took advantage of little-known trails that led to Little Elm from those towns. In 1907, Little Elm incorporated as a town under Texas law which allowed municipalities to exist only until they achieved "a level of development which will promote agriculture and commerce." The incorporation caused some controversy because it implied that the city could do more than just sit back and watch people move into its neighborhoods. Despite this criticism, Little Elm continued to grow quickly and by 1910 had annexed portions of Garland to form a new municipality known as Garland-Little Elm Township (later renamed Dallas). The arrival of automobiles made life much easier for residents inboth cities; however, when Dallas annexed Arlington in 1912 it decided not to annex any other municipalities within its jurisdiction so that Arlington citizens would have voting power on City Council meetings instead of being relegated to rank below landowners with no say in how their communities were run. This decision angered many residents who felt they were being left out without proper recompense for their sacrifices over the years. WhenDallas annexed Grand Prairie in 1916 it did not annex any other municipalities within its jurisdiction so that Grand Prairie citizens would have voting power on City Council meetings instead of being relegated to rank below landowners with no say in how their communities were run; this decision angered many residents who felt they were being left out without proper recompense for their sacrifices over the years
In 1836, the area that is now Little Elm, Texas was part of Mexico. In 1848, the United States acquired the area from Mexico and it became a U.S. territory. The first settlers in Little Elm were Englishmen who arrived in 1851. The town was named after a small tree near by, which gave rise to the name “Little Elm” because of its location. In 1907, Little Elm had a population of just over 100 people and it was primarily an agricultural town. However, there were some businesses started here such as a store and post office. In 1917, Little Elm became an independent municipality and did not have to ask for or receive help from the city of Austin with regards to services or infrastructure like water or sewerage. During World War II, Little Elm served as one of three military airfields used bythe USAAF in Texas during the war effort. After World War II ended, little has changed about life in Little Elm aside from occasional updates on local news articles related to government projects or events taking place downtown (e.g., renovations on City Hall).
