Levelland is a small town located in Tarrant County, Texas. The population was 1,527 at the 2000 census. It has the distinction of being the only community in Tarrant County that has never been annexed by any other municipality. The original land grant for Levelland was made to Antonio Levelland on March 4th, 1836. The community grew up around two churches which were built in 1881 and 1902 respectively. One of the first businesses in Levelland was a general store which closed in 1948. Today, there are several small businesses and restaurants situated throughout the village center including a library, post office, bank, barber shop and hair salon.
