When Leon Valley, Texas was settled in the 1870s, its residents were primarily farmers. The only commercially significant industry at this time was cattle ranching. As the population grew and began to rely more on transportation and communications, policemen became an important part of local life. In the early 1900s, Leon Valley's police department consisted of one officer and a few cars. Because of the remote location, most law enforcement activity took place over long distances by horse or wagon. This left little opportunity for officers to interact with their citizens face-to-face. The first telephone in town was installed in 1904 and it didn't work well because there wasn't any phone service out there then! One day a policeman heard about a new phone company that was starting up in Dallas so he went down there and bought one for $25. By 1912, Leon Valley had two patrol cars - one for mayor and one for constable - as well as a substation where police could call for help when they needed it. In 1916, theLeon Valley Police Department merged with the Dallas Police Department to form what is now known as The Dallas/Fort Worth County Sheriff's Office (DPSO). At that time, DPSO had jurisdiction over all of Harris County including Leon Valley. From 1916 until 1978, DPSO operated out of three different buildings on State Highway 183 between Arlington Heights and Irvington: the old courthouse building ( demolished in 1984), Main Street School (now used as an apartment complex) and finally Parkland Baptist Church (built c1924).

The Leon Valley community was named after General James B. Leon, who fought in the Mexican-American War and later served as governor of Texas (1892-1893). The town was initially organized as a cattle country settlement and began to grow when subdivisions were developed around 1902. The cotton gin, foundry, and chicken coop are some of the earliest buildings in Leon Valley. Today, there are few original businesses remaining in the village but many recent establishments have taken their place including a movie theater, gas station/convenience store, pizzeria/barbecue restaurant, health club/spa, and FedEx Ground shipping center. Leon Valley is located on U.S. Highway 287 about 12 miles west of Fort Worth and 26 miles east of Arlington Heights on I-35W which forms its southern border with Tarrant County beyond which it becomes Dallas County . The community straddles Brush Creek which runs through its center while creek sides also fringe nearby farms giving it an open feel that lends itself well to outdoor activities such as hiking and fishing both inside and outside the village limits!

The Leon Valley area in Texas is home to a rich history. The valley was first settled by the Comanches and Kiowa Indians in the 1840s. In 1851, the Texans formed an independent republic east of the Rio Grande and named it Texas. The region became part of Mexico in 1857, and most of the Indian population left for various reasons. But after Mexican independence was proclaimed in 1911, many Texans decided to stay and continue their ranching and farming activities. They were joined by Italian Americans who had arrived in large numbers during World War I. This mixture led to some interesting developments over time - for example, when Mexicans started coming back into the valley as farmers in recent years, they brought with them their own traditions and customs which clashed with those of the Italians. The growth of oil production aroundtownled to increased vehicular traffic on Highway 6A (now Loop 610) through Leon Valley; however, this also caused problems for local farms because there was no way for drivers to get around intersections without getting lost or causing accidents. Eventually, a bypass project was completed that avoided these problems entirely. Today, Leon Valley is still a thriving community with its own unique culture and history – something that has been preserved by its residents since before it formally became part of Texas!
Leon Valley was founded in 1879 by John Wesley Powell and his party as a wagon stop on the Chisholm Trail. The town grew rapidly and soon became a major cattle market. A post office was established in 1881, and the community acquired its name from Leon Valley, Texas, which is near where it was located. In 1902, the town had a population of 1,000 people and prospered due to its role as a transportation center for the surrounding area. However, during World War I the town experienced significant damage and loss of life when parts of it were bombed by German forces. After the war ended, Leon Valley slowly declined until it disappeared altogether in the early 21st century.
