Leon Valley is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,492 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth–Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Leon Valley School District serves students in grades kindergarten through eighth. The first settlers in Leon Valley arrived during the 1850s and 1860s and were farmers who farmed land that now includes much of the downtown area. In 1876, a group of men from Marshall County founded the Fort Worth & Arlington Railroad to provide transportation for goods and people between Fort Worth and Arlington Heights. The village of Leon Valley was founded on October 24, 1876 by John A. Hebert and others with help from local landowner James Clementson. In 1914, Mayor Tom Flournoy petitioned the Tarrant County Commissioners to annex what are today eastern portions of Clearwater Township (renamed Pleasant Grove after World War II) into Leon Valley as part of an effort to increase housing development along Loop 1604 within Tarrant County limits. This annexation did not take place because Flournoy resigned his office after being indicted on bribery charges later that year; however, he returned to office before eventually losing his re-election bid in 1916 In 1925, the city of Arlington Heights annexed parts of Clearwater Township including present-day Leon Valley The city's decision not to annex was due largely to concerns about water contamination caused by oil refineries located near Clearwater Township although some residents advocated for annexation because they felt their community would benefit from increased education and economic opportunities available within Arlington Heights itself. In 1957, when Plano unified all municipalities in Tarrant County under one leadership structure, it became clear that annexation requests by planned communities such as Plano would be refused if those communities did not agree to become one unit under a single governance body – something that had never happened before in Tarrant County On July 1, 1959 President Dwight Eisenhower signed Executive Order 12654 which created Dallas-Fort Worth Regional Planning Commission (DFW RP). The land which makes up Leon Valley was first settled by the Comanche people and then acquired by the Kiowa, Apache, and Arapaho people. The valley was populated primarily by farmers and ranchers until the early 20th century when automobiles began to take hold of society. By World War I, Leon Valley had a population of 5,000 residents. Starting in 1919, Leon Valley became a cattle ranching community with over 100 miles of corrals and 2500 head of cows. Today, Leon Valley is a bedroom community for Dallas with its own hospital and shopping malls. With its rich history, it is no surprise that there are many churches and museums located in or near Leon Valley including St John’s Episcopal Church (founded in 1907), First Baptist Church (founded 1871), Baylor University Chapel (opened in 1924),and Our Lady of Victory Cemetery (established 1881).

The Leon Valley community was founded in 1881 by farmers from nearby Wichita Falls. In 1915, a post office was established in the community. The name of the post office has been changed multiple times, but has always been considered to be Leon Valley.
