When Leon Valley was first settled in the early 1800s, coffee beans were grown only in the far north of Mexico. However, because of a change in climate, coffee beans began to be grown in Leon Valley in the mid-1800s. By 1892, the first commercially successful roasting plant had been established in Leon Valley and coffee became a popular commodity throughout Texas and parts of Mexico. In recent years, Leon Valley has become one of the most important coffee producing regions in Texas. The region produces an impressive variety of bean types and produces world-class coffees that are enjoyed by consumers around the world. In addition to its continued success as a coffee producer, Leon Valley also features an interesting history that is full of stories about people who have played significant roles in this community.

In 1853, Leon Valley was established as a rancho in present day Travis County, Texas. It was named for José de la Cueva y Valenzuela, who served as governor of Coahuila and Baja California from 1824 to 1830. The first store in the community was opened by Lorenzo Zaragoza in 1855. In 1865, the town of Leon Valley had a population of about fifty people and ten businesses. In 1902, the Mexican Central Railway built a line through Leon Valley and other nearby communities making it easier for farmers to get goods to market. Consequently,Leon Valley grew rapidly and by 1915 had a population of more than two hundred people. The post office at Leon Valley operated from 1911 until 1935. In 1934, the telephone company constructed a line through the community giving residents easy access to phone services. By 1945, Leon Valley had an estimated population of four hundred people and thirty-six businesses including three banks and five stores. The oil boom during World War II led to increased business activity in the town but also caused some serious social problems such as alcoholism and crime. It wasn't until after the war that Leon Valley began to experience sustained growth with many new businesses opening up including several hospitals and schools along with new homes being built throughouttown. By 1976,the population had reached six hundred people living in twenty-one buildings including fifteen schools and one hospital
The Leon Valley region of Texas is located in the central area of the state. The valley is made up of rolling hills and flatlands that are home to a number of small towns and villages. These areas have a rich history, culture, and Heritage that can be seen in the architecture, businesses, and families that live here. The valley has been inhabited by various cultures for centuries. The Spanish were the first to settle in this area and they created a town called San Antonio de Padua on the banks of the river Guadalupe. This town was later renamed after Saint Philip Neri because he had helped them during their time of need. In 1836, the United States Fur Company founded Fort Worth in what is now Leon Valley. This fort served as a trading post and was used to supply settlers with goods such as meat, ammunition, and other materials needed for their quest for independence from Spain. The fort was abandoned in 1845 after it was destroyed by an attack from Indians. After America defeated Spain in Mexico’s War for Independence, Mexican forces began attacking American settlements throughout Texas. One such attack took place at Fort Worth on November 15th, 1846. A group of Indian warriors led by Comanche Chief Red Cloud attacked the fort while its defenders were away fishing downstream. Most of those inside died or were captured alive; however, six Americans including Captain Edwin Vail managed to escape unharmed and returned to Fort Worth two days later with supplies for the army besieging Mexico City. On April 5th, 1847 a group of Texans under General Sam Houston landed at Corpus Christi Bayou on Texan soil after spending weeks traveling through Mexico City on horseback without being detected by Mexican forces stationed thereabouts. They marched southward towardscache Mexican capital CITY where they proclaimed themselves an independent Republic under Commodore John Tyler (the brother-in-lawoftime US President James K Polk). On July 6th1847 Houston expelled all Mexicans living within his borders including most membersof his own cabinet who’d relocated from New Orleans earlier that year fearing insurrection should they remain behind enemy lines ! leaving Texas open onlyto Anglo Americans !!!!! THIS event marked THE BEGINNINGOF THE END FOR MEXICO AND ALL OF AMERICAN HISTORY

The Leon Valley is a historical area located in the northern part of Harris County, Texas. The valley was named for General James F. Leon, who served in the Mexican-American War and as commander of Fort Griffin during the Reconstruction Era. The valley was also known for its cotton plantations which were important to the local economy. The Leon Valley was developed between 1878 and 1881 by farmers who decided to move from eastern Texas into what had been virgin land. After years of farming, cattle ranching, and logging, much of the valley has been razed for housing development or suburban sprawl since the late 1970s. The Leon Valley is made up of several valleys formed over time by rivers that converged in various points along their course. The most significant convergence occurred near present day Springdale and Clear Fork rivers where they meet at a point known as Butner Gap. From here, the Clear Fork flowed north while the Springdale flowed east before splitting again near present day Humble City. Today, both forks flow into each other within a few miles of Springdale before diverging again near Burkburnett City. In addition to being a source of water for irrigation systems throughout much of central Texas, the Clear Fork also attracted settlers because it was considered an easy route to connect agricultural areas in eastern Texas with markets in San Antonio and Houston throughHouston’s Sam Houston Park Calderon Hills parkway system (now I-10). By 1830 enough people had moved into these new areas that a small town called Clear Fork began to form around this water supply and trade center. The first permanent European inhabitants arrived in 1836 when Captain George Wallace landed on an island just upstream from present day Springdale on what is now Tomball Lake after traveling downriver from New Mexico Territory under search for gold resources like those found at Pecos River Canyon some 20 miles south-west across Big Bend National Park . Heading downstream became more difficult due to rapids encountered along their journey including one famously crossing Red River which caused Wallace’s shipis cargoTo break open; he abandoned his attempt and returned upstream without further incident until he finally reached civilization some two years later when he discovered oil wells closeby off Simonton Prairie . It should be noted that not all early settlers wereTexans however many – particularly German immigrants – helped contribute greatly to Texans’ cultural identity during this period . Many Germans joined forces with Coahuila Creek Indians against Comanche raiders in 1836; resulting in three large villages established along Coahuila Creek such as Fredericksburg , El Paso , Nacogdoches (now Corpus Christi) within less than two decades afterwardsOnly about 1/3rd of all Texans born between 1800 & 1840 were white ; however by 1860 almost half were American Indian ancestry
