The Coast Guard gift history in Leon Valley, Texas begins with the establishment of a coast guard station on this site in 1907. The first coast guard officer in Leon Valley was Captain John L. McFarlane, who served for six years before his death in 1912. His successor, Lieutenant Colonel Edward D. Weisberg, Jr., served for two years before being transferred to Fort Worth and then to Leon Valley. With the outbreak of World War I, the Coast Guard increased its staffing and resources within the community and began operating an airboat landing at Falcon Point on San Antonio Bay. This landing became known as "the Golden Gate Landing." In 1917, General Order No. 3 was issued establishing a system of coast guard stations along the entireTexas-Mexico border. This order created a need for more personnel and assets to provide security for our nation's ports and seaports during this time of war. In response to this order, Captain Weisberg organized what is now known as the Leon Valley Coast Guard Station into four detachments: 1) District Headquarters; 2) Sector Headquarters; 3) Patrol Squadron One; 4) Squadron Two (later redesignated as Patrol Squadron Three). Since its inception, Leon Valley Coast Guard Station has played an important role in securing our coastline from both domestic and international threats. In 2003, when Hurricane Rita struck landfall in Texas causing extensive damage along the Gulf of Mexico shoreline, Captain Weisberg responded quickly by ordering all patrol ships assigned to his station into port for emergency repairs and training exercises until further notice. He also ordered all vessels moored offshore north of Corpus Christi to be used as barracks for local recruits while their homes were reconstructed after Katrina hit hardest near Algiers Point on Galveston Island where most people lived ashore because they could not evacuate inland due to lack of boats or other means of transportationage

The Leon Valley Coast Guard Museum is a historic museum in Leon Valley, Texas. It was founded in 1942 and is the only Coast Guard museum in Texas. The museum has collections of artifacts from the United States Coast Guard and its predecessor organizations, including the Texas Marine Patrol.
Leon Valley is a small town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,075 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Leon Valley community began as a stop on the old Chisholm Trail. A post office was established there on December 5, 1887, and operated until it was discontinued in 1907. A mill was built in 1886 by J.C. & W.L. Brown and became a prominent local employer; it closed in 1979 but has been restored and used as a museum today. According to the 2000 census, residents of Leon Valley enjoy excellent access to education within easy reach: There are six schools located within walking distance of the community; three public and two private elementary schools offer grades pre-K through 12th grade; additionally,Leon Valley State University (formerly Mid-America College) offers undergraduate degrees in business administration and marketing/marketing management; Leon Valley also has its own hospital with emergency services available 24/7 for residents who need them. The Coast Guard gift history began in 1915 when Congress passed the Federal Emergency Management Agency Act. This act created the bureau of coast guard development which was charged with creating a national coast guard. The first gifts were given to members of the Coast Guard for their service during World War I. In 1920, Congress passed another law that established a department of coast guard organization. The department was responsible for training officers and buying equipment. In 1938, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 6102 which established the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). This order authorized donations by private individuals to be used for space research purposes. These donations included air-cooled computers, radar equipment, satellites, boosters, and other valuable materials needed for NASA’s space program. As a result of this donation activity, the Coast Guard became one of America’s leading space agencies! Since its establishment as a unified agency in 1950, the Coast Guard has made many contributions to American society both at home and abroad. Some examples include: developing lifesaving technologies such as lifesaving water systems; providing humanitarian assistance in times of conflict or natural disasters; conducting search-and-rescue operations; protecting U.S coasts from vessels or terrorists; working together to reduce pollution on our oceans; promoting maritime safety globally; supporting coastal communities through education programs; responding to emergencies such as Hurricane Katrina.; assisting First Nations in managing their resources.; participating in numerous international joint missions.; interstate cooperation against crime., terrorism., & border security.; protection from aquatic life invaders.. etc…. It is clear that without these passionate individuals who dedicate their lives toserving our country – our coastline would not be safe nor would we enjoy all that we do everyday!

Leon Valley is located in the Texas Panhandle and was first settled by Anglo-Americans in the early 1800s. The valley was named for General Leonidas Polk, who fought in the Mexican-American War. The area saw heavy fighting during the conflict, and many of the dead from the battle are still buried there today. The valley also played a major role in the legendary Comanche Wars. Starting in 1881, white settlers began to move into this part of Texas, bringing with them their own culture and way of life. They soon realized that they needed a place to store their crops and build their homes, so they began to exploit what remained of the forest hereabouts. However, it wasn't long before Native Americans started attacking these new settlers as well - both sides were trying to take advantage of any opportunity to gain an edge over each other. In 1916, white miners came across a deposit of gold near Leon Valley and decided to start mining here. This led to rapid growth for Leon Valley - not only did people start coming here for work, but businesses also sprang up everywhere else in the panhandle too! It wasn't until after World War II that things really picked up around here - development money started flowing into Leon Valley thanks to oil discoveries offshore! Today, Leon Valley is one of those places where you can see all sorts of different cultures living together side by side: people from Mexico City come down for vacation every year; there's even a small university based here (the University of Texas at El Paso). All in all, it's clear that this valley has had some pretty big impacts on its surroundings - it's no wonder that it's such an important part of Texas history!
