The Leander, Texas, National Guard was created on July 1, 1935. The original unit was composed of 9 officers and men. On September 15, 1942 the first rifle company was organized and on November 5th the first tank company. On December 12th, 1941 the state of Texas became an all-out war zone with a proclamation by Governor Earl Warren ordering all male citizens between 18 and 25 years old to serve in military service in any way possible. On January 15th 1942 five companies were ordered to form battalion headquarters at Bowie Dam from companies A1-A5 which had been activated for training at Fort Worth Army Air Field. This battalion operated out of Camp Bowie until June 1945 when it moved to Lubbock under command of III Corps Headquarters. In October 1945 the battalion was disbanded and its members reorganized as part of VII Corps Headquarters in San Antonio before being redeployed back to Leander where they remained until May 1946 when they were again disbanded effective date. The original Leander, Texas National Guard unit is now defunct but their history can still be observed through the operations within their successor formations: The III Corps Tactical Reserve Group (Trg), IX Corps Tactical Reserve Group (Trg), I Marine Division Reserve Command (IMARCOM) and II Marine Division Reserve Command (IMARCOM).

The town was named after Commodore John Rodgers, Jr., one of the founders of Texas and its first territorial governor. It was founded on July 4, 1871 by Colonel James W. Gilmore and General George Hays with a population of only ninety-six people. On November 3, 1870, Leander incorporated as a city under the name "New Braunfels." In 1889 it changed its name to "Leander" after Commodore John Rodgers' brother-in-law Rear Admiral David Denton Leander who had been instrumental in helping to found Texas and become its first territorial governor. In 1907 the city constructed a water tower that still stands today (). In 1911 Leander became an agricultural center when Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA) land purchases were made for irrigation purposes around what is now IHOP Field Rd., TX 75001 (). That same year Leander also became home to America's second cotton gin following construction of what is now known as White Settlement Rd.–the first such structure west of the Mississippi River (). After World War II much development took place in Leander as jobs moved into nearby Dallas–Fort Worth and other cities due to oil discoveries being made throughout central Texas (). Many businesses have since closed or been replaced by new ones but many pieces of downtown remain unchanged including City Hall (), High School (), Bank & Trust Co.", Pecan Lodge ", Methodist Episcopal Church", First Baptist Church" (now First Christian Church"), and several old homes dating back to before WWI ()

This led eventually to passage of Civil Rights Acts (1964), Voting Rights Act (1968), Economic Development Act of 1965 and others which bolstered relations between organized labor and government institutions respectively. These advances culminated with The Defense Authorization Bill of 1987 which created Operation Enduring Freedom -the first formal authorization for U.S.-led peacekeeping operations since World War II-and opened up opportunities forNGOs like TNA to play a larger role in American society beyond just providing support for our armed forces overseas). Despite these successes, however, there has been criticism levied againstNGOs throughout recent history due largelyto their focus on global issues over domestic ones or lack thereofTactics like Idle No More or Occupy have drawn attention away from more pressing problems while those who do work with NGOS often face surveillance by state actors1). Nevertheless, given how importantNGO work has become within our current political landscape it's hard not see them as essential players in any discussion about national security

It was originally organized as an independent corps of infantry, artillery, cavalry and air force reservists called the Militia in 1792. The National Guard has grown into a large, diverse organization with over 350,000 members across the United States. The National Guard has traditionally been used for mobilization purposes only; it has never been put on permanent duty as a full-time army or navy unit. However, this hasn't always been the case: in 1949, the militia was combined with the regular Army to create what is now known as the National Guard Bureau. This gave rise to suspicions that the NGB could be used for partisan politics or other improper activities by its members – concerns that have unfortunately continued to this day. Nevertheless, despite these shortcomings (and Ongoing criticism from some Members of Congress), most people view the National Guard through rose-tinted glasses and generally appreciate its efforts in times of national crisis or emergency.
Leander is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas and is the county seat of Grant County. The population was 5,890 at the 2010 census. It was founded by Leander Giles on March 9, 1875, as a railroad town named for its founder's father-in-law, General James A. Grant. The area that now makes up Leander was first settled by Native Americans in what is now eastern Grant County. European settlement began in earnest in 1845 when David Fannin postulated the idea of creating a new line from Galveston to Amarillo via San Antonio and Leander. On July 6, 1845, Austin lawyer John Sweeny filed a land grant for 8square miles (20 square kilometers) to David Fannin and others under the name "Grant Township." The grantees were: Jesse Hogg (owner of an interest in cattle), Samuel Lubbock (a farmer who had subdivided land east of present day Shady Grove Lane), William Pemberton (a surveyor), George Waggoner (of Waggoner & Company mercantile firm), Nicholas Biddle (founder and first president of Dallas & Tyler Railroad Co.), John Neely Bryan (an attorney with Foster & Richardson law firm) and Stephen Fenton (the brother-in-law of banker J.P. Morgan). The town site lay within what are today downtown Leander and parts of Plano Heights/Uptown/Logan Square neighborhood; these areas were not developed until after World War II when much development took place around Interstate 35W which then extended into downtown Leander along First Street SE. The original town boundaries centered onpresent day South Park Drive NE; North Park Drive SW; East Park Avenue NE; West Park Avenue NW; while future neighborhoods include portions east of I-35W near Greenville Road/US Highway 287 and northwest corner Of Spring Creek Boulevard just south of US Highway 287 across from Sam Houston Tollway exit 29A In 1865, some residents banded together to form the League Of American Voters to opposed Reconstruction policies set forth by President Lincoln following his Emancipation Proclamation which opened up many slave states to African Americans as well as granting voting rights to freedmen regardless of their social status or economic backgrounds - this group included men such as Jens Jensen who would later serve as Mayor von Hagel's Chief Deputy during Von Hagel's time as City Manager
