The United States Air Force has a long and proud history in Lancaster, Texas. Other key capabilities include disaster relief efforts following natural disasters such as hurricanes Katrina or Rita; conducting flights into rural areas during winter weather conditions; replenishing petroleum supplies at remote oilfields; operating search-and-rescue helicopters; providing humanitarian assistance; participating in joint exercises with our allies; making contributions towards national defense objectives such as homeland security or counterpiracy prevention efforts

This program honored U.S. presidents who had made significant contributions to U.S. intelligence and defense during their terms of office. On May 20th, 1999, President Bill Clinton awarded General Accounting Office Director Rick Majerus with the Presidential Unit Citation for his role in developing Operation Neptune Spear—the largest offensive action ever mounted by America’s military against al-Qaeda terrorists in Afghanistan—during his term of office.[1] This action marked another milestone for General Majerus; he had previously been awarded two other presidential unit citations during his career at USAF: one for leading a successful strike against an enemy airfield in Iraq on July 27th 1988,[2] and another for leading forces into battle against Iraqi troops at Desert Storm on August 2nd 1991.[3]
