Lakeway coffee history goes back to the 1870s when a man named John L. Temple bought a small farm near Lakeway in what is now Fort Worth. At that time, water was scarce and beans were expensive, so Temple ground his own beans and sold them directly to customers. In 1906, Temple moved the business to its present location and continued to sell coffee until World War II. After the war, the business transitioned from coffee to tea before closing in the early 1970s. The current owners of the property where the business once stood reopened it in 2000 as a museum dedicated to Lakeway coffee culture.
Lakeway is a town in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The townsite of Lakeway was first developed in 1847 by pioneers who tentatively named it "Laguna". In 1881, James W. Earle donated land to form the town and named it after himself, Lakeway Township being organized that year. On July 1, 1886, the name of the incorporated Village of Laguna changed to Lakeway and became an official part of Hidalgo County when all villages within Hidalgo County were united under one organizational banner on that date. In 1912, Druman Caddell donated land for a public high school which would become Lakeside High School and serve as the cornerstone for what would become Lakeway's current downtown district. The damming of Buffalo Creek caused extensive flooding which destroyed many homes but also exposed limestone veins beneath the earth which could be mined for oil and gas. This led to development along Buffalo Creek as well as other streets around today's school zone including Loop 610 South and I-5 south (the present day border between Austin and Dallas). In 1924, Mayor JB Goodnight dedicated a new courthouse with mud construction following severe rainfall events in nearby Guadalupe River Valley that week including an 30 inches (800mm) rainfall on Monday night; this event is still referenced in local media reports as "The Mud Event" because so much water was spilled from towers used to construct county roads during storms like this one. In 1954 two churches were added to town limits – First Baptist Church which served residents east of US 90/I-10 bridge eastward into Williamson County while Second Baptist Church located west side of US 90/I-10 bridge northward into Hidalgo County formed what is now known as Third Baptist Parish (). As additional businesses began popping up along Loop 610 South (a major north-south thoroughfare running through downtown), Transportation Director Harry Litton recommended adding a highway exit into town center off I-35W just east of today's courthouse plaza in order alleviate traffic congestion onLoop 610 South during heavy morning or evening rush hours; this recommendation was given approval by then Governor Ralph Yarborough and Assemblyman Willis Gentry before becoming law on October 14, 1959 (). A new hospital building was built adjacent to extant Courthouse Plaza in 1962 followed by library addition in 1978 completing what would eventually be called 'the Gold Rush' period for village development around lakeside Blvd., now central business district...Today there are over 100 businesses operating within city limits with no less than 16 professional schools providing education from PreKindergarten through 12th grade.; jobs have brought more than $50 million USD worth of economic activity directlyither directly nor indirectly to village coffers since 1996....Since 2000 Village taxpayers have contribute an annual amount equalized against assessed value Of $3 per capita towards infrastructure maintenance such as Streetlights & Drainage

Lakeway is a small town in Williamson County, Texas located on the banks of the Trinity River. The population was 1,471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first settler in what is now Lakeway was Mr. John Denton in 1827. He and his family founded a farm on what is now known as Denton Dam Road about four miles northeast of present day Lakeway. Mr. Denton built two log homes, one for himself and his wife and children, and one for their 2 sharecroppers who helped to feed him and his family during their early days in this rural area. Ulysses S Grant visited Lakeway while he was campaigning for President in 1872; he stopped at the home of Mr. Denton's son, Wm., near present day Longhorn Caverns State Park before traveling on to nearby Fort Worth where he would later be inaugurated as President of the United States on April 6th, 1873. In 1906, Mrs.. J... donated land adjoining her home which became known as "Henderson Park" after Mrs....'s husband (Samuel Henderson). Henderson had bought an estate adjacent to Fort Worth's White Settlement from Colonel James Hogg with its 244 acres (100 hectares) including 21 buildings including a large cotton gin that still stands today within walking distance of Lakeway! On November 17th 1935 Hurricane Clare hit Texas causing damage estimated at $2 million dollars ($40 billion USD today). More than three hundred homes were destroyed or damaged with over ninety percent loss due to flooding across much of central Texas including parts of Austin and Houston! A total 875 people lost their lives with 3% fatalities occurring above water levels! The efforts by local volunteers and agencies such as Red Cross Disaster Relief became known as "The Great Harvey Flood" which left an enduring legacy both locally and statewide! In 1990–1991 locals spearheaded development project called "Lakeway 2025" aimed at increasing tourism opportunities around town through creating new jobs/economic development along Main Street/Henderson Park corridor while preserving century old structures such as Henderson Park mansion which has been designated a National Historic Landmark since 1966! Today, Lakeway continues to thrive with its rich history - from its earliest settlers who enjoyed hunting & fishing access to current residents who enjoy hosting events such as rodeos & powwows all year round... it truly remains a community gems worth visitation & experience!
