Coffee was ground and brewed on small family-owned roasters until the late 1800s, when large plantations began growing coffee in the area. Lake Jackson, Texas is a small town located in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 1,897 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Amarillo–Frisco metropolitan area and lies within the Wheeler County seat of Wheeler. The name "Jackson" comes from Andrew Jackson, who fought in the Mexican-American War and won fame as president. He was appointed as a justice on the Supreme Court by President James K. Polk after he served on that body during Reconstruction (1868-1920). Lake Jackson is named for him because it split off from present day Wheeler County to form its own entity when he became president in 1874. In 1881, A&P grocery store founder James Buchanan Bobbitt donated land to build a small community here which would become known as Lake Jackson. When it opened its doors for business, Bobbitt's store featured a post office, schoolhouse and restaurant - all built with his own money and labor. The town grew rapidly due to agricultural production and tourism until World War II when industry took over and employment dried up. Today, much of what once made Lake Jackson such an interesting place has been replaced by subdivisions or abandoned buildings; however, some original structures are still standing including the schoolhouse which was moved from its original site near Interstate 10 to accommodate growth in nearby Amarillo during that time period; and Buchanan Bobbitt's Store which still features live music every night thanks to resident DJ Austin Hargrave! Today's locals are friendly people who enjoy spending their days outside playing golf or fishing while drinking cold beer or watching football games on their screened porch or patio across from their home - something that everyone can enjoy whether they're young or old!

Lake Jackson was a small, intermittent body of water located in Johnson County, Texas. The name was derived from the Kiowa word "jaggy," meaning muddy. The first mention of the lake is from 1845 when it was called Spring Branch by the Texans and its current name came about in 1865 when General Grant's forces burned down much of Austin, Texas during the American Civil War. The site of present-day Lake Jackson was originally inhabited by the Wichita people. They had a small village on the banks of the stream that flowed through their lands. In 1839, Comanche Chief Joseph Wheeler led a group of his followers across this stream to found what would become Wichita Falls in central Texas. This move signaled an end to numerous Middle Eastern invasions into Western North America. In 1865, General Grant's forces burned down much of Austin during the American Civil War while campaigning along Johnson County's eastern border with Colorado. As a result, most of Austin was destroyed and many items - including furniture and artifacts - were lost forever in what is now known as Reconstruction Austin. The townspeople rebuilt their homes near where they lived beforethe fire and began trading with other communities in Central Texas for goods and services necessary for reconstruction. By 1870, there were more than 150 businesses operating within a five-mile radius around downtown Wichita Falls. I n 1912, Lake Jackson was reorganized into Johnson County after being created from portions of Hays (later Davis) County and Travis (later Williamson) County . At that time it included an area bounded by US 183 on the north side; US 281 on the east side; State Highway 288 on both sides; and Green River on its south side
The first white settlers in the area that is now known as Jackson County were James and Sarah McLennan, who arrived in 1827. The county was formed on February 3, 1846, from parts of Travis and Williamson counties. By 1865, the population had grown to over 10,000 people. The region became a cattle country during the late 1800s, and most of the land around Lake Jackson was used for ranching. However, some farmers began growing crops such as corn and beans beginning in the early 1900s. Jackson County played an important role in World War II when it served as a landing zone for American planes flying into Japan. The county also experienced economic growth after the war, thanks to demand for goods exported from Japan. In recent years, Jackson County has become home to a number of small businesses and farms that rely on agricultural production.
