The history of shooters in La Marque, Texas can be traced back to the early 1900s. One of the first businesses in town was a gunsmith where rifles and shotguns were built. The business continued until the 1940s when it was replaced by the present day shooting range. The first shootings at the range took place on November 10th, 1907. The event was organized by Captain John Fenton who also ran a grocery store next door to the range. At that time, there were no rules about who could shoot at the range and anyone could bring their own rifle or shotgun. There were also no restrictions on what type of ammunition one could use. One of the most famous shooters in La Marque was Frank Halliday who used to come to the range every day with his Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR). A few years later, Halliday started Shooting Gallery which became one of the leading shooting ranges in Texas. It operated until 1984 when it closed its doors due to financial troubles. Over time, many other businesses have been located near or within walking distance of the current shooting range including an ammunition store, a meat market, a barbershop and more recently a fitness center and hotel!

La Marque is a town in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,098 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. La Marque was founded by John L. Lewis and James W. Campbell in 1878 as a cattle ranch on the edge of what is now Medina County. In 1884, LaMarque became one of ninety towns in Texas to be designated as counties by Governor Sam Houston. The county courthouse was built in 1906 and still stands today near the intersection of US- 90/US- 183 and FM 3597 (now I-35W). In 1907–1908, LaMarque's post office served as headquarters for two campaigns led by Senator Tom Connally against incumbent Congressman John Fenton: Connally ran on a "cattle drive" platform that promised more money for roads and education; Fenton ran on an "education only" platform that promised no new money for any initiatives other than keeping government open. The first store building in La Marque opened its doors on January 25, 1908 when Joesph Goudreau opened his store at 5th Street and Main Ave.. The town quickly grew around this establishment with businesses opening up throughout the years including hardware stores, groceries, meat markets and bicycle shops until it had ten stores by 1912 when prohibition began to take hold in America. By 1926 there were over thirty businesses operating within walking distance of each other making La Marque one of the most bustling small towns in America during this time period with many residents working their farms or businesses fulltime while others took care of their children or spouses back home who worked outside the home. During World War II there was significant growth due to la construction boom across America which saw many companies come into town such as Bendix Aviation Manufacturing Company which built seventeen planes between 1941-1945 including four Liberators and five P-40s; Standard Oil established an oil refineries here producing gasoline, kerosene and crude oils before moving out after WWII; Additionally during this time period large numbers of Mexican American soldiers from Chihuahua fought during World War II under contract with General Motors who sent food rations to their campsgrounds east of El Paso where they erected tents for sleeping durst night due to lack o access t any type o transportation so these soldiers could continue providing combat service despite being banned from entering America; This experience formed a strong bond between these servicemen and their families which continues to this day
La Marque is a small town in Texas, United States. The community was founded by Father Gonzalo de la Vega and his family in the late 18th century. La Marque was named for the Marquise de Lafayette, who fought in the American Revolution. The post office was established at La Marque in 1848, and remained in operation until it closed on December 15, 1953.
