The first coffee beans were grown in La Marque, Texas in the early 1800s. The town was founded by Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna and it is said that he named the town after himself because of his love for coffee. Santa Anna was a general during the Mexican-American War and he fought against American forces. AfterWARS, La Marque became an important center for coffee production. In 1876, José Joaquín Murillo y Zúñiga founded a company called El Comercio Coffee Company and began to produce world-renowned Colombian coffee. In 1914, John Denton purchased the El Comercio Coffee Company and renamed it JDS Coffee Incorporated. In 1969, JDS Coffee merged with National Roasters Corporation (NRC) to form National Roasting Corporation (NRC). NRC is one of America's leading producers of quality espresso and roasts worldwide.
La Marque, Texas is a small town in the Mexican state of Puebla. It is located on the banks of the Rio Grande about 60 miles (110 km) east of Mexico City and 110 miles (160 km) west of Ciudad Juárez. The population was 9,857 at the 2010 census. The town began as a cowtown and grew up around grazing land in what is now La Marque. A post office was established in 1876, and by 1903, it had reached its peak with a population of over 100 residents. However, cattle ranching became more common in the early 1900s, and by 1920 La Marque had only 10 residents. In 1928, Lázaro Cárdenas became president of Mexico and designated La Marque as one of thirteen towns within Puebla that would benefit from his new social welfare program known as "El Plan de San Luis Potosí". This program provided food, housing, health care, education and other services to citizens who could not otherwise afford them. By 1930 La Marque had increased its population to 30 residents and started to develop into a small-time commercial center for Puebla County. However, World War II interrupted this development; LaMarquées military service turned them into refugees undeterred by offers from American authorities to return home when hostilities stopped. Instead they went back to their homes – some settling permanently in El Paso – but left behind their businesses which continued operation until after Mexican independence in 1936. The war also caused an economic setback for LaMarquées; many farmers lost their land because it was used for infantry training during wartime while other industries were shut down or relocated outside of Mexico City becauseof shortages caused by European interventionism following the war. However despite these setbacks la marqués bounced back quickly with growth rates reaching 50% between 1960 and 1970 due largely to industrialization brought on by diversifying agricultural production into oil palm farming following discovery of oil resources along Lake Texcoco near El Paso; industry also attracted new workers including Mexicans living abroad looking for work opportunities after repatriation regulations were relaxed under two successive Presidents Ulysses S Grant (1865-1897) & Woodrow Wilson (1913-1921). In 1973 local officials organized an annual parade which featured floats made out of plastic water bottles filled with candy representing various aspects of local culture such as horses playing “cowboys” on Main Street while people dressed like Apache chief Cochise danced past on horseback decorated with feathers and fringe around their heads atop elaborate headdresses.. After several years there was no parade due to budget cuts however people still dress up like Cochise every year during Fiesta del Chapultepec PROCESO INDÍGENA
The coffee industry has a long and proud history, dating back to the early 1800s. The first coffee trees were located in the region that now constitutes Colombia, and coffee was grown for centuries in areas such as Peru, Guatemala, and Brazil. In 1824, Dutch coffee trader Cornelius van der Meer discovered what is now called the Java Sea while sailing on his ship The Indiaman Rangoon. He noted that there appeared to be a large quantity of gold gathered by local people near Sumatra. After returning home with this valuable discovery, van der Meer began trading coffee with India and Europe. In 1827 he founded the first Dutch Coffee Company in Batavia (now Jakarta). The company's first shipment of beans arrived in Amsterdam Harbor on October 12th of that year. During the 1830s and 1840s different groups attempted to find a way to distilled espresso from whole bean coffee beans. None of these attempts were very successful; however, after about 1850 some brewers started using water heated under pressure (known as steam distillation) to produce espresso for their own use rather than buying it from other roasters. This process became known as "automatic" brewing because it required no human involvement other than pressing a button to produce high-quality cup of espresso. Automatic machines typically produced around 60 cups per hour per roast; however, due to technological advances at this time such machines could be manufactured to produce up to 400 cups per hour (equivalent to 4 or 5 liters per minute).
The first coffee was grown and roasted in the region now known as Ethiopia. Coffee beans were brought overland to Africa by traders and pilgrims, and were ground into a strong drinkable form. The growth of coffee culture began in the mid-19th century, when Ethiopian Jews began importing Columbian beans from South America to create their own unique flavor profile.
There are few places in Texas as unique as La Marque. This small town, located on the banks of the Brazos River, was founded by Anglo-Dutch settlers in 1836. The town soon became a stop on the Mexican Trail, and its citizens developed a close relationship with their Mexican neighbors. La Marque's history is reflective of its people: proud to be Texans and fiercely independent, they were also very proud of their Dutch heritage. La Marque's story began with a bitter skirmish between Spanish settlers and Anglo-Dutch newcomers in 1836. After days of fighting, the Spanish colonists were routed and driven out of what is now La Marque. The Englishmen who had landed in Texas quickly realized that this region was ideal for farming because of its fertile soil and low cost of water resources. They named their new settlement after one of their own ships - HMS Enterprise - which had sunk off the coast of Spain during the Peninsular War (1814-1818). The Englishmen who founded La Marque quickly became successful farmers, responsible for expanding the town's population from around 100 residents in 1836 to more than 350 by 1850. Their trade connections with Mexico helped make La Marque one of TX's leading commercial towns during this time period. In addition to his agricultural pursuits, John Brown formed an important local political figure during this time period - he served as mayor twice and represented TX at various international conferences before becoming an American senator in 1964. During World War II, LaMarque played an important role as a munitions plant; largest such facility in TX at that time. It operated successfully until 1951 when it was closed due to budget cuts caused by rising military spending nationally. However, many memories from wartime life still remain: both British soldiers stationed here during that conflict and Mexicans working at the plant later helped createTX' first Latino elected official - José Mejia (D) in 1978
La Marque was founded in 1836 by Josefina and Antonio de la Vega. It is a small town located in Hudspeth County, Texas. La Marque is the primary center of population for the area and has a population of over 1000 residents.
