In Killeen, Texas, coffee has been brewed since the early 1800s. The region is home to some of the world's most notable coffeehouses and roasters, including Peet's Coffee & Tea, Four Barrel Coffee and Rheingold Coffee. Today, the industry employs over 150 people in Killeen and nearby towns. In addition to its namesake coffeehouse - which still servesـ high-quality beans today - Killeen has several other noted cafes such as Tom Cat Cafe and Blind Pig Cafe that have long been popular with locals and tourists alike. These cafes have helped contribute to the city's unique character and culture. The history of coffee in Killeen goes back even further than that. At least two small villages in this area - Montrose and Pleasant Grove - were known for their production of ground beans specifically for tea use. Eventually, these villages transitioned into cities due to their growing population sizes. As Killeen grew, so did its need for caffeine habitat: In 1876, an American named Wm. Fenton opened a grocery store on Elm Street that became one of the first commercial roasters in town (later becoming Peet's). By 1890, almost all of the town's businesses had switched from brewing their own coffee to buying beans from local farmers (mostly those from Montrose). By 1902, even City Hall was wearing a cupola made of Roquefort milk chocolate cups made by Dutch merchant Cornelis Beurenburght at his bakery on Elm Street (now part of Dillard’s). This period also marks one of the earliest mentions of 'coffee' being served as a beverage: A 1907 article in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram listed three local java joints as places where 'chocolate milk is poured with strong grounds'. With all this history behind it, it should come as no surprise that high quality coffee continues to be a major focus at both Peet's Coffee & Tea – founded in 1892 – and Rheingold Coffee & Tea., which opened its doors in 1916 (the year after Fort Worth annexed Killeen). When Indonesian President Suharto came into power in 1965 he introduced a new policy called "Cupanization" which aimed to improve Indonesia's economy through competition with neighboring Malaysia and Singapore among other nations by imposing restrictive import quotas on foreign manufacturers seeking to enter Indonesia's market place. As a result of this policy change output declined at state-owned enterprises while private enterprise flourished resulting in what is known as 'the New Order'. After decades of development some 4 million people living around Jakarta worked inside state industries while 5 million others engaged mainly within private industry making Starbucks one among many small businesses that thrived during this period without government interventionism

Killeen, Texas is a small town located in central Texas. It has been inhabited for over a hundred years and is one of the oldest communities in the state. The community was named after Captain John A. Killeen, who fought in the Mexican-American War and was later a congressman from Texas. In 1836, Killeen was attacked by Indian attackers and destroyed. However, it was subsequently rebuilt and renamed after Captain John A. Killeen in 1892. The town experienced some growth during World War II as many Americans moved to the area to fight in the war. After the war ended, much of the population went back to their farming roots and today Killeen remains an agricultural hub with a strong downtown core that retains its historical character.
