Fresh roasted coffee is a centuries-old tradition in Killeen, Texas. The first coffee beans were grown on the banks of the Trinity River in 1852. Today, we continue to roast our coffee using the same methods and techniques that have been used for generations. Our coffee is made from whole bean beans, which gives it a rich flavor and a smooth texture. The business continued to be run by the same family until it closed in 1984. In 1984, Johnnie's Coffee & Tea was founded in Killeen by Johnnie Bostic and his wife Julie. The business became known for its fresh roasted coffee and called itself "The First Choice." In 1990, they changed their name to Johnnie's Coffee & Tea USA Inc. and continue to serve up amazing coffee today!
Killeen is a city in Texas, United States. The population was 805 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Tarrant County and it is located on the eastern edge of Fort Worth, about 35 miles (55 km) north of Dallas. Killeen was founded in 1871 by pioneer farmers and cattle ranchers as an unincorporated community near what is now Interstate 10. The name "Killeen" comes from a French word meaning "place where cows are milked." A post office called Killeen was established in 1872, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1906. The first school in Killeen opened in 1872, and the first high school for boys opened in 1914. In 1965, Killeen schools were consolidated into one district under the name of Tarrant County Schools. Today, Killeen has 14 traditional schools that offer grades kindergarten through 12th grade: five elementary schools (St Joseph Catholic School; Oak Cliff Elementary; Northside Intermediate School; Southside Intermediate School; and West Side Intermediate School), four middle schools (Central Middle School; Eastwood Middle School; Marshall Middle School; Northwest High School), two high schools (Fort Worth Central High School and Wichita Falls Senior High School), as well as two alternative programs (West Side Alternative Learning Center and South Side Alternative Learning Center). In addition to its traditional education offerings, Kileen also offers a variety of specialized programs including arts magnet programs for students who want to explore music or dance performance opportunities or technology-based specialties such as robotics or coding. In 2013-14 alone, Killeen received more than $27 million dollars from state appropriations to support its educational institutions – making it one of Texas' leading education districts when it comes to funding resources available to local educators.
