The Coast Guard in Killeen, Texas has been providing safety and security to the community since 1912. The Coast Guard's mission is to protect our coastline, waters and people by providing coastal guard services, conducting maritime patrols, rescuing sailors andAIRSTREAM students from danger, and helping with emergency response. In 1912, the first Coast Guard station in Killeen was established on the shore of San Jacinto Bay. At that time there were only two full-time coast guard officers and a handful of enlisted men who patrolled the bay. In 1915, the Killeen station was moved to its current location on Commerce Street. In 1951, a new command center was built on land at Camp Jouett which served as the Headquarters for both Marine Patrol Squadron One (MPS-1) and Coastal Patrol Squadron Two (COPS-2). Today, Coast Guardsmen provide coastal guard services throughout our region including: San Jacinto County; Brazoria County; Harris County; Austin/Round Rock City Council Districts 2 through 5; Williamson County; Tomball District 1; Nueces County; Hidalgo County and Chambersburg Borough in Montgomery County. Additionally they offer air traffic control support through their Air Traffic Services Branch which provides airspace management services to more than 100 airports across Texas. In addition to their service to our community they also maintain law enforcement presence by arresting violators of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs). The history of Coast Guard gift giving in Killeen dates back to 1912 when two volunteer sailors from New York City decided to put together a gift for members of the local government in Corpus Christi Bayou near where they lived. This initial gift gave birth to what would become known as "The Corpus Christi [Coast Guard] Gift Society." It wasn't until 1946 that gifts became institutionalized within Coastalguard HQ with the establishment of "Gift Certificate Unit" responsible for issuing Gift Certificates upon request from members or guests visiting HQ or taking part in events related thereto such as functions hosted by the Commandant or Board of Commissioners etcetera etcetera...over time many other aspects have been added such as webinars/forums/meetings etcetera etcetera but this will serve as an overview for now! As far back as 1916 it had been determined that gifts given during special occasions such as Christmas or Fourthof July should be made out payable to "Corpus Christi Bayou Gifted Fund" rather than simply "Coastguard Headquarters". Gifts received after 1924 were still paid out straighttotheGiftCertificateUnit however starting in 1949 certain types or gifts - like watches - could no longer be sent directly home duelling regulations set forth by then USAMR Corp., later FAA! Beginning with Seasonal Appreciation Roll call held each November at SHSAA Hall located off FM 1960 just east of IH10 everyone present receive a recognition medal depicting an event taking place aboard ship during that particular year...eventually all medals issued are personalized! No matter how long ago something happened we remember it fondly thanksgiving!

The first Coast Guard was formed on November 1, 1790. At its inception, it consisted of twelve men and one boat. On December 15, 1800, the Coast Guard reached its present size with the creation of a Regular Navy detachment under Rear Admiral John Rodgers. Since then, gifts from citizens and businesses have been an important part of Coast Guard culture. Through donations and fundraisers, special events are held throughout the year to commemorate those who have made a significant donation to the service. Caspar Weinberger and Weldon Goldstein; • A retirement home in Asbury Park Township, New Jersey in honor of Captain Royce Smead; and most recently, two helicopters donated by MHQ Helicopters Inc., one in memory of Air National Guardsman First Class Jonathan Snyder and one in honor of Police Chief Michael Jackson - both donations were dedicated during 2013's holiday season celebration at NAS Whiting Field Naval Base Illinois

Killeen is located on the banks of the Trinity River and has a humid subtropical climate. The history of Killeen began with Spanish missionaries who founded a mission in 1759 south of present-day Killeen. In 1849, Killeen was established as an independent city by Texans led by General Sam Houston. By 1860, it had reached its current size with 6,000 residents. After serving as Capital of Tarrant County from 1865 to 1870, it became the seat of government for all parts of Tarrant County until 1903 when Arlington took over that role. In 1907, after years of wrangling between Arlington and Kerrville about which city should become capital due to their differing populations (Arlington had more people), Killeen became capital effective date and remains so to this day. That year also saw oneof Texan history's most pivotal moments when Ulysses S Grant arrived in town for a campaign stop on November 7th and spoke at an open mic night at local First Baptist Church before being introduced to then-Mayor James Fenton and becoming an American favorite for many reasons including hisinceptionally good public speaking skills. Although annexing neighboring communities—most notably Cross Plains—has increased population growth throughout much of DFW Metroplex during recent decades there are few issues or concerns that could potentially arise which prevent annexation; however annexation requests have been slow to flood through our City Council because most residents feel annexed areas would be too close to home without proper safeguards in place such as services such as water、 Streets、 Roads、 Parks etc.–one example being Cross Plains’ request for annexation which was denied by our City Council because they felt it would cause traffic congestion within their community while still providing access to other unincorporated areas within Dallas Metroplex
