Kilgore, Texas is a small town located in Midland County, Texas. The coffee history of Kilgore begins with two brothers, John and Eddie Kilgore. John was the first to start canning coffee in Kilgore and the first to sell it local. In 1915, Eddie started a dry goods store in what is now known as the Old Courthouse Square. In 1922, he opened a grocery store on Elm Street near where present day State Route 6 meets Elm Street. In 1949, John died and his wife passed away soon after; their son Eddie took over the family business. Today, Eddie’s son Doug continued the family tradition of selling coffee from their house on Elm Street until 2006 when theyclosed down due to health reasons.

According to the 2000 census, Kilgore has a total area of , all of it land. The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Kilgore has a subtropical highland climate, abbreviated "Cfa". As of the census on July 1, 2010, there were 5,814 people living in Kilgore. Of these 3% were Hispanic or Latino (of any race).

Kilgore, Texas is a small town in Gregg County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,817 at the 2000 census. It is the only incorporated community in Gregg County. The name of the town comes from an early settler named "Kilgore" and his brother "Cowan". The two brothers were on horseback searching for a place to settle when they discovered a bottomland covered with wild grapes. They named their new settlement after themselves and began to grow grapes which they exported to New Orleans. In 1859, Kilgore became the seat of Gregg County and the first post office was established there. The McKees Rocks mine had been opened for mining by John Denton in 1848, but no one ever came up with a claim for it until James Hance claimed it in 1872. The present day Kilgore was founded by James Waddell in 1870 as a result of his discovery of oil near what is now downtown Kilgore. When oil production started up all over Texas starting in 1914, Waddell decided to move his operations back to Kilgore so he could continue producing oil there until help arrived from Houston refinery employees who wanted their share of the profits too! After World War I ended, production stopped completely because Hazelnut Oil Co., owner of Preston Field (later ExxonMobil) bought out Waddell’s minority interest and continued production himself! In 1922 about 350 people lived here; by 1930 that number had grown to 1,000 due mostly to Marshall Crain’s purchase of several thousand acres (from Waddell) around Kilgore Lake for development into an agricultural center known as “The Plains”! By 1940 there were 3 churches and 12 schools here; today there are just 2 churches left – both Baptist! A few years ago we lost our only doctor – Dr. Roy Barnes – but we will soon have another one!
Kilgore is located in Grayson County, Texas. The town was founded by George Kilgore in 1871. It was named after the nearby mountain range. The first post office was established in Kilgore on May 5, 1872. The town grew quickly and by 1882 had a railroad station and store. In 1886, Kilgore incorporated as a city. By 1907, the population of Kilgore had increased to over 1,500 residents. On January 15, 1912, KilgORE lost its charter as a city due to financial difficulties. However, it regained its charter on March 3 of that year The community experienced some prosperity during World War II with several companies manufacturing munitions here including Texas Arsenal Ammunition Company and Sperry Corporation. However, the war led to decreased production and many people left the area between 1945-1948 when prices for ammunition went up dramatically nationally due to shortages created by the war effort
