Kerrville, Texas has been known for its coffee beans and roasted products since the early 1800s. The first to settle in the area were the Kerr family who began roasting coffee in their home at the corner of Main and Elm Streets in 1872. The Kerr’s continue to make high-quality coffee until this day and their beans are now sold all over the world. The history of coffee in Kerrville goes back even further. In 1892, J.W. Slaughter opened his first grocery store in downtown Kerrville and soon began importing Brazilian coffees from Brazil to sell under the name “Slaughter Coffee”. The popularity of Brazilian coffee led to other businesses starting up around town – including a bakery, a grocery store, a barbershop, and finally an hotel which became known as the Slater Hotel after Mr. Slaughter donated land on which it sat. The Slater Hotel was one of first places where people brought their cups of joe throughout Texas during prohibition because it was legal to sell liquor within city limits without having your license revoked! Today, you can still find some remnants of these days (like old shelves full of Java Jellies) but overall it is quite different than it once was. It is interesting that despite all these changes over time, our love for fresh roasted coffee hasn’t changed at all!

Kerrville is a small town located in Tarrant County, Texas. It was founded in 1872 by J.W. Kerr and his family. The population of Kerrville was 5,291 as of the 2010 census. The name is derived from the James W. Kerr Ranch which was located in the town. The first store in Kerrville opened in 1872 and it was called the Post Office Store before moving to its current location on Main Street in 1903. In 1907, the General Foods Company purchased the Post Office Store and renamed it their own store. The company operated their store for more than fifty years until its closure in 1990. The first school in Kerrville opened in 1872 and it was called Beechwood School until laterchanging its name to Kerrville School District No 1 after becoming part of the Tarrant County School District system In 1972, Hurricane Tracy destroyed most of downtown Kerrville with only a few buildings remaining standing including the old post office building which still stands today as a museum . In 1990, due to budget cuts within the Tarrant County School District system, all but one high school closed along with many other businesses such as banks, department stores and home improvement stores . However, since then many new businesses have reopened including an online ordering service which replaced most of those closures ; several restaurants ; an art gallery ; a library; and two parks - one for golfers and another for kids . The town has been working to redevelop some of its older buildings into mixed-use properties , such as a hotel/motel with conference rooms/banquet halls inside and out , several hundred dwelling units consisting mostly single-family homes that are rented out continuously through monthly leases or short term rentals across multiple sites throughout town (See "Redevelopment" section below) . A large parking lot has been built near Main Street for up to seventy thousand vehicles overahanDSide streetside loading docks constructed on former agricultural land leased from cattle ranchers who now operate commercial truck stops There are also plans underway for larger housing developments on adjoining property currently used extensively for agriculture purposes
