There is no one answer to this question since coffee has been brewed and enjoyed by humans for over three thousand years. However, some of the earliest examples of coffee can be traced back to the ancient city of Teheran in Iran. There, merchants and locals would go into the night to purchase beans from small farmers in order to make their own coffee. As time went on, different regions in Iran began producing their own unique flavors of coffee. One such region was Shiraz where a certain type of bean known as Oromo Coffee was grown. After centuries of production, these beans were finally brought to Kerrville, Texas in 1971 by Bob Geiger who founded Harbin Coffee Company. From there, Harbin CoffeeCompany continued production until it closed its doors in 1984. At that point, the history and legacy of artisan coffee within Kerrville had begun! Over the years, many talented individuals have worked at Harbin Coffee Company including founders Bob Geiger and his wife Jennifer; directors Rick Majerus and Don Armstrong; chemists Doug Hochberg and John Weiland; engineers/tenders David Hecht and Barry Wintz; managers/workers Jerry Rouse and Mike Kryger; interns Tim Sargeant-Koenigstein and Brandi Bowersox; graphic designers Karen Ennis-Wilson and Gary Chapman-Goudreau; workers’ compensation specialist Richard Gentry Jr.; journalists Tom Knoppenheimer and Jim Poeppelmeyer; actors Art Carney (“The Dude”)and Jeff Daniels (“Hank Hill”); among others. It is through these talented individuals that we see an incredibly rich history associated with artisan coffee within Kerrville – from early pioneers like Bob Geiger to today’s operators such as Rick Majerus, Don Armstrong, Jerry Rouse, Mike Kryger, Tim Sargeant-Koenigstein, Brandi Bowersox & Gary Chapman-Goudreau!

The town was founded by Italian immigrants in the early 1900s, and it soon became known for its quality beans andartisanal products. Today, Kerrville's coffee scene is thriving, with several local cafes and restaurants serving up fresh made coffee every day.
Kerrville is a small, unincorporated community located in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 912 at the 2010 census. It is home to the Kerrville Military Park and Kerrville Open Air Museum. The first mention of Kerrville came in 1867 when Colonel John B. Mason sent an exploratory party to survey the area after hearing rumors of gold beds in that location. The first settlement was made on a tract of land that now makes up part of the military park. In 1870, J.B.'s son-in-law Wm Hargrave established a gridiron post here with about 30 residents and 16 horses under his command. On November 15, 1871, Wm Hargrave's post was attacked by Comanche Indians who killed four men and took three horses before being driven off by militia forces supported by Captains Ayer and Cook from Fort Worth. In 1893, Kirby Smith set up a store on Main Street near present day IH 45 and Pecos River for sale to settlers looking for new land to farm following his discovery of oil wells in the area during the early 1900s. By 1902 there were over 100 people living in Kerrville including farmers, mechanics, laborers, teachers and their families clustered around main street between Second Street & Pecos River where several churches had been built also including First Presbyterian Church (1896) which still stands today as one of Kerrville's landmarks/ tourist attractions

These small businesses were often responsible for a specific type of coffee and typically roasted their own beans. As the industry grew larger, certain artisanal roasters emerged that specialized in producing high-quality coffee. Some of these roasters are still in operation today and continue to produce excellent coffee at an affordable price point.

Kerrville was founded in 1853 by John Kerr and his brothers, James and Richard. The town was named for General George Armstrong Custer, who fought in the Mexican-American War. It became a small cattle market and railroad hub during the early years of the 20th century. In 1915, Kerrville was renamed for Edward H. Kerr, Jr., founder of Texaco. The city experienced significant growth from the late 1800s to the 1920s as oil production increased in Texas and elsewhere. During this time, Kerrville became known for its arts and crafts scene, nightlife (particularly on Main Street), Anglo-Saxon architecture, and large population of African Americans. Today, Kerrville is a small town with a workforce composed primarily of retirees and their families.
