On Dec. 8, the Texas Air National Guard's 460th Wing deployed a gift to the Keller community in memory of fallen airman Sgt. James Keller. The gift was a new set of wings for an F-16 Fighting Falcon jet fighter aircraft that was donated by the Republic of Texas Airmen Association.
Keller, Texas is a city located in Midland County, Texas, U.S.A. It was founded in 1892 by George Keller and currently has a population of over 165,000 residents. The city is the county seat for Midland County and it lies on the border of Hudspeth and Archer counties. Additionally, Keller features a number of restaurants including Pappy John's BBQ restaurant where visitors can enjoy traditional barbecue dishes like ribs or pulled pork; Monterey Jack's gas station with its famous black beans; Blue Moon Brewery; The Shoe House pub/grill; various convenience stores including Safeway grocery store and Kroger grocery store; Kempner Park amusement park featuring rides such as "The Big Dipper" roller coaster attraction; east side of town includes several shopping malls including the Sam Houston Tollway Plaza Shopping Center . Keller was named afterGeorge Kellerman who settled there in 1892 with his family following their purchase of 640 acres (246 hectares) south of Midland on what would become Archer County. In 1916 George Keller sold land within the limits now comprising Keller to Texaco Incorporated for development into an open-air oil refinery called Refinery Row II which employed some 10,000 people during its heyday but closed in 1971 due to environmental concerns about benzene emissions from plant operations. In addition to its namesake restaurant - opened in 1915 by George Keller's great grandson Ira Eaker at 3rd Street& Main - other commercial enterprises located in or around Heller include: A&W Root Beer Company (opened 1918), Armoury BBQ Restaurant (opened 1951), Meineke Drive-In Automobiles & Service Station (opened 1976), KBY Radio-TV station KYES-TV (founded 1984), Lowe's Home Hardware Stores Inc., Hess Chevrolet dealership(which later became part of Mazda Motorsports America) .

The town's growth was facilitated by the construction of the Kerrville- Palestine Railroad in 1898. In 1907, Keller became the first municipality to be annexed into Arlington County. In 1925, it was renamed Arlington Heights after President Herbert Hoover made an official visit to the area. In 1960, Arlington Heights incorporated as an independent city and began to grow rapidly with a population of over 100,000. The city experienced rapid growth until annexing neighboring towns in 1982. In 2006, Arlington Heights merged with neighboring Irvington to form one large city with a population of over 200,000 people.
