In 1933, when it merged with the Houston–The Woodlands Railway, Katy became an affiliate member of the Houston–Galveston Railway network. Some soldiers who served in the National Guard during this time period would go on to become generals or presidents such as Ulysses S. Grant (1865-1876), Ulysses S.
