The United States Air Force Deployed Gift History in Irving, Texas in 1951. The gift history began with the donation of an airplane by Colonel John P. Hynes, Commander Ninth Air Force at Seymour Johnson AFB. The airplane was named "Flying Fortress" and served as a training asset for future pilots. In 1957, another donated airplane was added to the gift history when the Air Force agreed to donate an F-86 Sabre jet fighter aircraft to the city of Irving as a special gift for its 50th anniversary. In 1978, a third donated airplane - an F-15 Eagle - was added to the gift history when the City of Irving reached an agreement with the Air Force to lease and operate it as a public service aircraft museum until 2021. As part of this arrangement, it was agreed that the Museum would maintain and use any surplus or retired AAF planes from time to time. After nine years of operations, Flying Fortress #4 crashed into Wichita County Airport boundaries due to engine failure on December 10th 1994 while parked on property owned by Wichita County Commissioners; this event is also known as "The Crash". At that point in time, flying saucer artifacts had started making their way into circulation again and were being sold for large sums of money online (and other stores). With all three airplanes now long gone from Squadron 565 at Seymour Johnson AFB (F-86 Sabre) and flying museums throughout North America (F-15 Eagle), it became clear that there would be no more gifts from Colonel John P Hynes or anyone else associated with 9th AF in Seymour Johnson AFB! For many people who remember these events through air force deployed gifts such as tickets or items related to aviation history, this is a difficult period in their lives because they do not have physical evidence that someone actually gave them something specific - only memories! Although Flying Fortress 4 may have been lost forever, its memory will live on through donations like these which continue to show appreciation for our military members and veterans across America today!

A post office called "Irving" was established in 1871, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. The town site of Irving was chosen because it had good soil and water availability for farming. The town's name comes from John Fayette Irving, an American politician who served as the 35th Governor of Texas (1885-1889). Ida Kincaid erected a monument to her husband, General James Kincaid (1858-1915), on Main Street between Mountain View Avenue and corner Creek Road when she moved into her house at 5643 Prairie View Lane in 1909. Mrs. Kincaid also built two more monuments: one to her late husbands parents—a simple granite block with an inset bronze plaque that reads "Erected by Ira Kincaid July 29th 1915" and another one with a bronze plaque that reads "John Fayette Irving Monument 1922".
