As coffee culture spread throughout the United States in the 1800s, Hutto was one of the first communities to embrace its new drink. In 1887, Hutto Coffee & Tea Company opened their doors and began serving up their famous artisan coffee. The business thrived for many years, until it was destroyed by a fire in 1928. But Hutto’s coffee legacy didn’t stop there. A few years later, Hutto Coffee & Tea Co-operative opened a grocery store on Main Street that became known as the “Coffee&Tea House of TXA.” This store continued to offer its delicious java products until it closed in 1968. In recent decades, Hutto Coffee has slowly but surely regained its former glory as a leading artisanal coffee producer and retailer in Texas. As part of our ongoing efforts to support this industry, we are hosting a series of events celebrating the city’s rich coffee history this year! These events will include exhibits featuring local artisans working with beans from Hutto Coffee; tastings of different huttonian coffees from our shop’s rotating selection; and presentations from local historians about all things coffee related!
As an artisan coffee bean trader, I have had the opportunity to purchase and roast many different types of beans. Some of my favorite beans to roasted are Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, Colombian Roast, African Harissa, and Guatemalan Robusta. Each type of coffee has its own unique flavor and aroma. When I roast these beans, I often use a variety of methods including: sun exposure, wet roasting, dry roasting, and French press pressing. The most important part for me when it comes to selecting a coffee is how well the bean is roasted. I want my coffee to be bright and clear with no overtones or aftertastes. Additionally, each bean must meet certain criteria in order to be considered an artisan coffee from a taste standpoint. These requirements include having a high-quality ground Coffee that has been free of pesticides or herbicides; being grown in an area with good air quality; and being roasted using only the best ingredients available.
The Hutto Coffee Company was founded in 1937 by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The company used to be a small, regional business but today Hutto Coffee is one of the leading coffee companies in the state of Texas. In 1992, Hutto Coffee became a subsidiary of Starbucks Corporation.

Coffee has been enjoyed throughout the world for centuries, and some of the earliest recorded evidence of coffee consumption comes from Africa. In 1900, Italian immigrants started to import java beans from Java, Indonesia and South Asia and began brewing their own coffee. This unique flavor profile was not typical of what Americans were used to at that time. In 1957, Donatien Neumann opened the first café in Paris’ Left Bank district called La Belle Epoque. This café quickly became one of the most popular tourist destinations in Paris due to its exquisite architecture and delicious French-style coffee. Over time, other well-known international cafes followed suit such as Café Boulud in LondonBACK IN AMERICA! In 1984 Starbucks opened its first location outside of Seattle, Washington – becoming an international phenomenon! Today there are over 100 artisanal coffeehouses scattered around the globe serving up delicious cupcakes with your favorite roasted beans within minutes of purchase! Each cafe creates their own unique flavor profile which can only be found at these establishments. Whether you are looking for a morning caffeine boost or afternoon snack alike, there is no doubt that an artisanal cup of joe is waiting for you!

Hutto, Texas is a small town located in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 1,859 at the 2010 census and it is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Hutto has a history dating back to 1881 when it was incorporated as a notary public office town. In 1906, Hutto became a city after being granted its current boundaries through an act of the Texas Legislature. The water supply for Hutto came from the San Antonio River which crossed over into Hutto from Mexican soil just south of present day Slaughtertown Road. Today, much of what once comprised Hutto's downtown is gone but portions including the old City Hall and post office remain standing testament to its long history as a center for commerce and culture in nearby Dallas-Fort Worth. Until recently, little about Suthers Creek - also called "The Creek" or simply "The Creek" - had been known outside of Rutland County and most people living within10 miles (16 kilometers) either didn't know it existed or would have never guessed that it fed into Bassett Lake even though it lay right out in front of their homes! One recent effort by some local historians to document this creek began with interviews with those who still live near Suthers Creek on several occasions during 2009-2010 while conducting research on historical markers commemorating 100 years since Bassett Lake was created! Although Suthers Creekwatershed lies entirely within Rutland County proper - only 10 miles (16 kilometers) wide insideDallas/Fort Worth limits - until very recently its existence was largely unknown to most Texans living within that vicinity save for perhaps one mention in passing or one casual reference in an article about plans to develop new land adjacent to Bassett Lake! This lacrosse course operated by Scenic Rivers National Park between 1948 and 1957 across from where Suthers Creek flows into Bassett Lake served as both home field for the boys’ soccer team played by students at Lubbock Christian Academy until 1960 when they were disbanded because park officials felt that playing on school property would be detrimental to their morale; today there are no traces remaining anywhere near where tennis Courts used to sit prior to 1968 before acquired by Delta Air Lines due primarily To build Terminal 3 at Dallas Love Field; now open as an upscale restaurant By mistake! Although generally considered unremarkable by Texans living within10 miles (16 kilometers) radius thereof – apart from maybe mentions here and there among older residents who may have heard something vaguely associated with The Creek while growing up – events leading up to its designation as a State Wildlife Area more than 25 years ago deserve special mention given just how significant Wasson Dam & reservoir development then appeared!! Although locals usually referTo creeks like SUTHERS CREEK & basset lake collectively when discussing local pastimes like fishing, swimming etc., technically Chattahoochee River watershed includes all five creeks mentioned plus Branch Brook which feeds both SUTHERS CREEK &bassetlake (& numerous others besides!), making Wasson Dam Site(s) arguably 5*plus worth remembering especially given how historically important these sites subsequently proved becoming (& continue proving!)
